I don't think Variety is struggling to get readers.Dr. Casey wrote:... which means it won't get that many readers, which means the good press will remain relatively unacknowledged and do little to push back the Dragon Ball Evolution witch hunt. Yay!
Also, why do you care if this movie gets bad or good reviews? Is your own opinion not enough?
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Don't doctors use correct grammar and punctuation, when they type? But seriously: Be realistic, man. You sound like a goofball, wishing for the worst. Or are you spouting out sarcasm again, hm?Dr. Casey wrote:... which means it won't get that many readers, which means the good press will remain relatively unacknowledged and do little to push back the Dragon Ball Evolution witch hunt. The fans can whine as much as they like it is most likely the non-fans that will determine how many sequels the movie gets and I am grateful for that. I find it funny that you have many on here crying about the “bastardization of Goku” but chances are very good that they are/were fans of Smallville which I do not see a big difference between movie “Goku” and Clark.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.
Well, as I have said before, and I will probably say again, except for the "high school" parts of the movie, which is only the first 15 minutes about, Goku is very confident in the movie. Other than the "cheating" during the Kamehameha scene, I can't think of a time where he isn't confident in his abilities. I understand peoples hatred toward Goku being attracted to Chi Chi, but you have to understand the the producers probably felt the having Goku not understand women and being grossed out by them wouldn't play well in a overly anti-gay society that we live in.

I have zero knowledge of or interest in any facet of the Superman series and see little reason why that should have any relevance towards my perception of and any reaction to the live-action DragonBall movie.Saiyan-Professor wrote:The fans can whine as much as they like it is most likely the non-fans that will determine how many sequels the movie gets and I am grateful for that. So far, I have not seen many professional reviews, too bad IMDB's vote system consists of basically 1 and 10 and is filled with spammers.MajinVejitaXV wrote:I hope it fails simply to stop the production of more half-ass popular culture amalgams with anime names attached. I see what you mean to a degree but the point what I was attempting to make was that if someone finds Clark personality enjoyable and like Smallville overall they should not have a problem with the movie “Goku” because in my opinion they are real similar. Clark’s personality and setting is to a degree a dramatic change and update from the original Superboy. What makes the Superboy/Clark upgrade okay but the Dragonball off limits in the minds of those that are fans of both.VegettoEX wrote:I have zero knowledge of or interest in any facet of the Superman series and see little reason why that should have any relevance towards my perception of and any reaction to the live-action DragonBall movie.Saiyan-Professor wrote:The fans can whine as much as they like it is most likely the non-fans that will determine how many sequels the movie gets and I am grateful for that. Except your whole analogy is off when no one's factoring in Smallville by any degree.Saiyan-Professor wrote:I see what you mean to a degree but the point what I was attempting to make was that if someone finds Clark personality enjoyable and like Smallville overall they should not have a problem with the movie “Goku” because in my opinion they are real similar. It means NOTHING when no one was making any kind of reference to Smallville in any way.
That's like saying in the middle of a Street Fighter movie conversation "I find it funny how people are whining about Street Fighter, but chances are they like Mortal Kombat. There's no differences!" when no one is bringing up Mortal Kombat.
Only one instance of Superman was mentioned, that was it. It was a reference to the last movie in terms of rebooting a series. Nothing about Smallville or how Goku is similar to Clark Kent.

Liking Smallville doesn't mean you have to like DBE.
Why?
Because I've seen the good Superman stuff. Lots of it. Movies, live action series, several animated shows... it's all been done to varying degrees of success.
So when the time comes for a series based on Superman before he's Superman and determined never to make him Superman despite it being Superman, I say "why not". It doesn't matter to me. Everything I could want has been done and will be done again, because Superman isn't going any where.
Show me a good live action Dragonball movie, and I won't bitch about Evolution.

Low budget? I'd like to argue that. The movie got quite a sizeable budget at $100,000,000, now compare that to the spectacular work other films have done with much less, such as The Matrix with 60 mill. or Serenity with 39 mill. Please, don't use the budget as an excuse for this film's failure. In any case, I'm inclined to continue siding with Chu in regards to the topic of this film.JAPPO wrote:Plus with such a low budget for the first movie, it would be damn near impossible to not make a profit when you include total sales. Even if the theater box office isn't much, DVD sales usually account for 40-50% of the money studios get.

The latest estimate that isn't from a Canadian Newspaper that said the movie was going to be filmed in Montreal, or an actor stated the movie's budget is really 45 Million.Conan the SSJ wrote:Low budget? Ok, I'll take that argument. So let's say I like Code Geass and Gurren Lagann, which I do. And I like Lelouch and Kamina. If there was a movie adaptation of Gurren Lagann by that argument, I should be happy if the magnificent manly Kamina-sama acted like delightfully girly Lelouch? Because hell, I like both characters right?
