I figured I might as well share my story.

I'm not really sure the exact year, all I know is at the time Dragon Ball Z was playing on Midnight Run at the time (I presume it was 1998-9? It was in the early days) and the episode was running where Vegeta finds and knees Gohan in the stomach after Gohan had just stole the Dragon Ball and was hiding it. I remember my dad saying it was the greatest action cartoon ever (Lol, I think to this day of the commercial on Toonami where it says that exact same line, but being so young I bought into that stolen line like no-ones business), and I was pretty much hooked on it, but I had no idea it came on during the day, so I never really got to watch it until the later Frieza arc episodes started playing.

I believe I started catching it in 5th grade every day starting around the end of the Ginyu Force ordeal. I used to get so pumped for it back then, especially since Goku was fighting Freeza, even though I didn't know who the characters were at that time. I remember seeing Freeza and thinking...wtf? Is that a GIRL? I progressively became even more interested in the series, and my shit HIT THE FAN when Goku turned Super Saiya-jin. Being in 5th grade, that was THE shit to everyone in my class. Pretty soon I became the "all-knowing" (What a small world it was then, huh?) person among my friends.

I remember being so hooked on Dragon Ball Z, I just couldn't get enough of it. During that time, after Dragon Ball Z went off I'd turn on my SNES and pop Street Fighter 2 in and pretend that Ryu and Ken were actually Goku and Vegeta. Obviously that was before the whole internet boom, and I didn't even know any games existed. I didn't even know that it was actually a Japan show.

Either way, those were some of the best memories of my life, where everything was simple, and nothing really mattered except school, Dragon Ball Z, and Poke'mon. I kind of look back on that time, and see how much I've grown as a fan (and as an Adult, lol) and can't see my life if I've never had encountered Dragon Ball Z. I guess such a thought isn't new on this site, but Dragon Ball Z has had such an effect on my life, for being just a mere show, and I still find myself deeply inserted into it's universe.

You gotta love Dragon Ball.

First time I saw DBZ episode 1 on TV... very entertaining... good memories. And yes I saw DBZ from episode 1, which is unusual.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

I forgot what my age was, but I remember watching Dragonball Z on Toonami. It was the Goku vs. Freeza part of the Namek Saga and I made a huge sign saying "Let's go Goku!" I still have that sign to this very day :]

Thank you Dragonball for all the fond memories!

Discussing it with my best friend in the schoolyard everyday. This still means a lot to me because we can't to meet up as often as we used to(once a week at most, since we decided to go to different high schools/colleges).

Sam Goody used to sell a lot of DB merchandise(gashapon, candy, etc) back then. The one we used to go to all the time closed down a few years ago, so I miss it even more. I still have a pile of old Beckett magazines that I bought there.

Buying the first issue of Shonen Jump was also memorable. I didn't have cable back then, so I missed a lot of episodes. I was finally able to read it the entire series through this magazine.

Considering I've been a fan for about 11-12 years of my life, there's definitely a few I could pull from.

There was the episode where Vegeta was killed by Freeza, that I couldn't finish watching because I had to leave for football practice. (Right as Goku was eulogizing him.) I was so pissed, because Vegeta was my fave character at the time. (This was before I even remotely knew of Videl, and I've never liked Little Gohan.) I remember when I took a handoff to the "endzone" (We practiced at an elementary school, down in a valley like thing, so the "endzone" was the base of the hill) and pointed at the sky, saying "This one's for Vegeta!". Naturally, I got laughed off the "field".

A more recent one would have to be the Jump Special, and seeing so much interaction between Gohan and Videl, and how me and my girlfriend-at-the-time totally marked out for it together. (Well, as together as two people separated by the Atlantic Ocean can be.) So much fun.
