The Real Dragon Ball Z Abridged

Post by Innagadadavida » Thu Feb 12, 2009 4:33 am

Has anybody heard of this? Maybe I'm really late on this one, probably so... I went in thinking it was going to be another horrible not-funny abridged series and from the first episode I was pretty sure that it was. I kept watching though and by episode 4, I was rolling on the floor and laughing.

I'm not sure what is so funny about it. It's not outrageously witty, but at the same time it isn't absurd. The voices sound like they're are all done by one guy but it really adds to the charm. It's called "The Real Abridged," but I don't think it matters. It doesn't really compete with TeamFourStars' because its so different.

I like it a lot. It looks like the guy has quit because the last episode was finished a year ago. But I hope he picks this project back up. There's always room for more great abridged series.

-ly bad.

It sounds like he doesn't write joke, but pitches them to a mic and edits them in. No effort what so ever...

It does have a slight charm. In a bad, lazy sort of way.

C'mon, man. It's great.

Freeza suggesting codenames then giving Zarbon, Mr. Pink, and Dodoria, Dodoria.

Krillin calling Dende a green taco.

Vegeta singing the Fresh Prince theme.

I guess you have to look at it a different way. Don't compare it to DBZA.

Eh.. This is okay. Nothing compared to the TFS Abridged. There were a few funny moments in episode four, but it's sorta lame..

...ehhhh it's not the worst abridged series I've ever seen?

It was OK.
I liked the part with Radditz having a MP3 player in his scouter.
No more time for Daizex. Goodbye folks!

I don't mind it, but I think taking a year to release an episode is a bit much.

I mean, he probably is busy and I'm not gonna criticise him or anything, but still... some people get annoyed with TFS taking a few weeks... so imagine waiting a whole year!

To be honest, my favorite YouTube DBZ parody person so-to-speak is Retroxity. He makes halirious redubs.

The problem with Skins' is that if you don't really "get" into it then you'll hate it. With TFS you don't really have that problem.

Chicknwings also makes a DBZ parody abridged series. There's loads of series out there. Even I do a bit of DBZ parody.
In a nutshell: Likes the sub and the dub and barely ever posts.

I like episode 4... but not the the others, to be honest. Here's hoping episode 5 actually comes out.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
This is pretty good, but does it realy take over a year to make a episode? Having said that, why are all TFS fanboys flaming them?

A little while ago, they actually put up a message in their description box that their next episode would be better than all other DBZ abridging attempts.

Probably has something to do with that...

We laugh at their material. Gotta agree, the whole Freeza coming up with nicknames for his lackeys was hilarious to all of us.

As for the comments? Meh, it's a hobby anyway.

Hey, KaiserNeko, I sent you a message on YouTube. If you have the time, can you look it over and respond?

What also kinda annoys me are the constant reminders in the decription: "it's coming!", "it's nearly done".

I remember him saying that in August. Taking this long is just asking to be flamed.

I mean, it doesn't really bother me. To me, it's just a DBZ Abridged. If he doesn't make another one I've got plenty of other DBZ parody to choose from. However, I do feel for the people that subscribed to him and were told Episode 5 was coming out months ago.

But what can ya do? Like every abridger, Skins isn't doing it as a job. He ain't getting paid or anything so I guess he's got no "real" obligation to post anything.

More often than not it's just a matter of people getting in over their head. They see something that looks fun and want to be a part of it, but the more they do it, the more they realize how tedious it is and how much dedication it will take.

Which is something that I hope won't happen to TeamFourStar and the DBMultiverse crew. Those are two of my favorite fan projects.

I doubt tfs is the same. They release their episodes fast as heck.

Episode 5 is up and it's a three parter.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Overall, I give it a 7/10. There were certainly lots of lols, but too many WTFs. I enjoyed it a lot though and I'm looking forward to episode 6 next year.

Hell yeah I've heard of it. It's fantastic. I loved Episode 5.
