What's wrong with the last one?
And Krillin in the final pose of the OP is disgusting.

So disappointing...
also, QUALITY!
Hopefully
QUALITY won't be a reoccuring thing with Kai.
But it was hilarious with Code Geass

I know thaaaat. I was saying the Roshi voice we've heard before, the one who screeched and always sounded goofy when he shouldn't, the very one we've been hearing from the games is better off replaced by the one we're hearing in Kai.

B your avatar is awesome! Those commercials had me laughing forever.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

Only thing I can really think to nitpick about this episode --
Showing how Goku came to Earth before the whole DB montage. It makes Raditz's whole appearance redundant (which is a little sad, because I now think of the Abridged Series during his speech).
But that aside, I really don't have any complaints.
I'll definitely be watching next week! (:
why so serious?

Personally, I liked it a lot. The new OP/ED are both very good, and the pacing is improved without being too fast. I know you can't judge the whole series on the first episode, but Kai is off to a good start.
One quick comment on the music - I love it. It has a similar feel to the original Japanese BGM, but incorporates some of the stylistic direction of the games. One track in particular that I loved was the song from when Raditz confronts Piccolo. Can't wait for a soundtrack.
I'll be watching every weekend for the next two years. Now to check out Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

I also watched the HQ raw version. After so many years I really didn't need subtitles.
Now about the ending song Yeah! Break! Care! Brake!. Am I the only one that cringes after hearing the line ''Let's go tip-top! All right?''. Don't get me wrong, I L-O-V-E the ending song and animation. Just that particulair line ruined it for being 100%.

Gonna make more comparisons down the line, plus the brightness looks messed up in a few of the snaps.

Honestly, a lot of the episode kinda played out dully for me. More than if I watched Episode 1, anyway...
It felt kinda empty in places for me. The bit with the sabertooth is one of my favorite little bits of filler, and the start of the series doesn't feel right without it. Also, I don't really like the recap, it was
I didn't notice anything special in the CONTENT of this week's episode. HOWEVER....
Ohmygodthosearesexythemes.
Let's go tip top! Alright?
I always HATED Zenki Power, and now it's replaced with something AMAZING. I have to say, the music for this series is great, the themes are amazing...
...Hell, I'm thinking I may have to wait for the initial reaction to pass, but it may be an IMPROVEMENT on the original score. It's so light and fun, but can segue into a more intense moment almost seamlessly. It's really a very well-done score!

Thanks for the comparison The Time Traveller, but it's good to remember that we're using a TV broadcast source, after being ripped to a file, and then screencapped. I really can't wait to see what the inevitable HD home format release looks like compared to the Dragon Boxes!

I love the improved contrast and color choice in Kai! It makes everything feel a lot fresher despite being over 20 years old.

What did everyone think of Ryusei Nakao's quick performance of Freeza (particularly the scene when he was laughing, right after he destroyed Planet Vegeta)? As for that particular scene (in Kai) compared to the original, I think he definitely took a lot off as far as intense emotion, but managed to keep a very good sinister cackling voice going; as apposed to the more of a deep "ho-ho-ho" laugh that we got in the original.

I thought his performance was completely on par. I can't wait to hear more of him. I was sort of bummed out they didn't keep in the fireworks line though.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

Ryusei Nakao is Kurotsuchi Mayuri from BLEACH, and I realy liked his performance. especialy in episode 200 with his speach... I had a fan boy rush in my heart while hearing it.
About the episode... I don't think I can say anything more than discussed here, but I noticed a missing scene... it's when Raditz first got out of his pod. In the original he was talking about how Kakarotto screwd up his mission. Any body here have noticed it?

Well, just watched the first episode of Kai! I really enjoyed it. As some pointed out, there were some horrendous tracings here and there... but overall, it was great seeing the opening and ending animations with the awesome new songs! I agree that Hiromi Tsuru didn't do quite up to par with what she has in the past, but I guess it'll take some time for her to "get back into it"... But I must admit, I still like the "old school" feel of the original Dragon Ball Z opening/ending, though the new animations in the opening/ending are heavenly to say the least.

Can't wait to see the rest!

Both Funi and Kai look great, but like you said Kai is brighter. I don't like the brightness on Bardock's face, but the other three are great
By the way, are you guys watching Kai via Youtube. Just curious as to where you guys are going.
Gohan: "You're a Buddhist." Kuririn: "A hungry Buddhist!"

Well, I had to watch it via YouTube, since Japan is a million dreams away.

But it was great quality and pretty much the only "public" way to see it on the 'net... at least, for now. Thanks for the link, Forgotten Hero!!!
