Damn, this thread is growing way too fast! I go to sleep, wake up and go to school, come back and I'm several pages behind!? WTF?

Because of that, I'm going to comment on some posts from a while back, but are still new to me:

It's the audience rate of Kai in Japan. I have more

11.3%(--.-%) 04/05 *9:00-*9:30 CX* Dragon Ball Kai
Where do you guys get this info?

Thank you very much for posting these!! Not because I wanted to see that one release was plain better than the other, but I just wanted to see them compared side-by side. It'ss be interesting to see if the image quality in Kai picks up as the series goes along as the FUNi season sets did. If so, Kai at least won't have to wait for a block of 30 or so episodes between having the chance to try anything new, but we will once again have to worry about different animation companies handling the process of reanimation/remastering.

No kidding! That extra syllable in "break" was really throughing me off when I was trying to Romanize the lyrics (a project which I failed miserably and thus gave up on). Phonetically it seems to be Yah (Yeah) Bu-rae (Break) Kah (Care) Bu-rae (Break) Omo-ikiri as the opening line. I had to listen to that at 50% speed several times.

Wow, 6,348 words! Very impressive; is that more than that giant season three post you had a while back?

I'd love it, not even the manga takes so little time, or at least it doesn't feel like that, I think it would be fun to see how it happens

I saw some of the comparisons shots.
Comparing screenshots is one thing, comparing full-motion video is another entirely!!
Not to mention those Kai shots look naturally better than the FUNi sets, compare full-motion video, specifically when the screen is shaking.
Kai is GORGEOUS Compared to the Washed out FUNi sets hands down!!

And am I the only one who loved seeing Kuririn and Luffy together in that bridge Dream9 thing? XD
Gotta Love Tanaka, her Luffy has been superb all these years, and now we get to hear her Kuririn again!!

Multiple appearances? Okay, like I mentioned before I haven't watched the first season of Dragonball Z in six or seven years. I only remember seeing Lunch once during the Buu Arc.

I just finished watching an HD version of episode 1. The voice acting is great for the most part (just Bulma and her 'Yamcha-line' bugged me, like many others have said), and I really enjoy the new, brighter colors. I personally think they really benefit from this recolor. The sound effects sound awesome too. I never thought I'd hear these scenes without the muffle of old mono sound (I don't have the DBoxes or the R2 singles), so that was great.

I enjoyed the intro and the ending. The songs are catchy and upbeat, but I sort of wish the intro had a bit more energy to it, like all of Hironobu Kageyama's songs. The BGM is pretty good for the most part. A bit more silence would have been nice, but the Imperial March sounding music made the situation seem pretty damn tense.

One problem I have is that when you watch the intro and compare it to the episode itself, I feel that the line art itself leaves a lot to be desired. The intro, eyecatches, and ending has such sharp lines, while the episode line art just really looks like it was blown up to fit a 1280x720 frame. Scenes of the farmer and the group talking about Gohan at Kame house really stood out particularly. The shaking also seems a lot more noticeable in HD, but then again, I haven't really "studied" the original episodes.

Also, the thing that will probably get to me is the difference in animation quality in the original DBZ episodes that will be spliced into one Kai episode. Hopefully, they redraw some of the "triangle-guy" stuff. As much of a fan as I am of the series, when I saw those episodes on TV when I was younger, I really felt like changing the channel, it was so ugly.

But, for what it is, I can enjoy it and watch it weekly, but like others have said, it makes me want to just have the entire series redone. My problems with the series would be gone, but its not like they're big ones anyway, so whatever.

Did you only have the audio of the song? Because it's pretty simple to Romanize the lyrics now that the episode is out since they conveniently include kana karaoke lyrics in the opening and ending.

They even have katakana pronunciations above the opening English words. "YA! BURE! KA! BURE! Omoikkiri"

She was with Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu when they're first seen in Z. After Tenshinhan died she was seen getting drunk over it. There's also the Buu saga appearance. I forget if there are any more than that.

Thanks Bussani, to be honest I can't really remember those scenes. I'll keep an eye out for her in the up coming DB Kai episodes. Hopefully they didn't edit her out too.

That part was actually in the dub originally. She was the only person flashing by who didn't laugh like an idiot. :P

In the edited dub that aired on TV.

Hey, I don't know if this has already come up or not, but after watching the first episode like 15 times I just noticed they changed Piccolo's blood (23rd Budokai scene). Originally he had red blood, but now it's purple... Alien blood!
