I agree with this... could have shown a spaceship.Velasa wrote:Completely goddamn unnecessary -_- And terrible. Seriously, they had that machine that made life from Daimaou's blood. The hover ship was never shown blowing up. If you have a clip at the end, show something there with sparks and flashes and something darting from the chamber or something. Don't show Daimaou as some sweet sick puppy who just needs a hug and a bowl of soup.

I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would!
Some thoughts and comments..
- A bit irked with some of the bad name pronounciations
- Emmy Rossum played a pretty decent Bulma
- Joon Park's Yamcha really reminds you of Sabat's portrayal
- Some certain scenes could have been more explosive and intense
- You'll definitely get a kick out of the some of the references to the actual series
- Ayumi Hamasaki's "Rule" was cut short!
I would say the biggest flaws were the acting and script. If Stephen Chow was in charge of directing like he was rumored, then the film would have been a lot better.
Other than that, it was definitely what The Legend of Chun Li SHOULD have been. A bad, but really enjoyable movie that doesn't really take itself seriously. Looking forward to the DVD/Blu-Ray release.

My brother thought that was a baby Piccolo under those blankets.
As much as I hate to encourage the Daredevil-esque business of 'release the horrible version to theaters, then get the finished cut to dvd', I hope Fox releases an extended version of this film for home video. It wouldn't automatically make this a better film, but it probably would mitigate some of the pacing issues. And it puzzles me that some of the better parts of the trailers and promos were left out here (some of the Piccolo/Goku fighting, Piccolo blowing up a city, etc.)Fixing the pacing (and the scenes that could be added by doing so, like Daimaou splitting the fulum maniacally) would have made it decent as a stand-alone action flic aimed at kids, which I say liking that kind of movie. There would have still been the innacuracies but they would have been much better/bearable if the characters they had in the movie were at all fleshed out.

I was hoping so much they were going to kill him. Just kill Daimaou already and bring us Piccolo! He'd have his background and we could hit the ground running. Just bringing back a neutered Daimaou to limp in and ask for forgiveness because the soup was so nice it made him change his ways is a failure beyond what my love for the Daimaou clan can take.
The editing was a total mess. I can't say it enough. And the damn choices they made.....
EDIT- and with Daredevil that was the studio's stupid idea to not put the good version in theatres. You know, the version that fleshed out the story? That would be nice to get...

Marsters said a lot of things that didn't ever seem to happen. I'm not very happy with him right now and I have more than a few questions I'd like to ask about where all of his standing up for Daimaou went.
A fanboy of Marsters I guess? Because I've pretty much got that department covered when it comes to the Daimaou clan. I was a fan of Marsters when he was saying all this awesome stuff but I'm pretty pissed at him at the moment.

So, is it "Legend of Chun-Li" bad? Or is it the good kind of bad, like you'd see on Mystery Science Theater 3000?

Just got back from seeing the movie. I knew that it wouldn't be the Dragonball I knew and loved from the get-go, so the movie seemed decent to me. ...At least until about the middle of the film. After they encounter Yamcha the story kinda fails at being anywhere close to good, leaving the viewers with a very rushed and disappointing ending.
Not to mention all of the talking during the film. Warning: if you ever happen to encounter someone of the "skate boarding"/"emo" trend, and you know for a fact that they have friends, avoid seeing a movie one the day you know that they're going.
And finally, the after-credit thing. What was that about? Is there going to be a Dragonball: Return of Bedridden Piccolo?

From an interview Jappo posted in the boards on March 20th-
It's a bit of a change from the earlier conversations he had earlier on. And in the film he never spoke once on his age or his motivation, just a note about being compacted in a small space unable to do anything sucking majorly. If he'd just had one scene where he could really rage on somebody about everything that had happened to him that would have done so much damn good. There wasn't even a hint of Daimaou's World of Crazy. Instead they dropped some dry voiceover info dump a the beginning.DR: So what liberties have you taken with Lord Piccolo?
JM: In the cartoon, Lord Piccolo is this old, wizened man. He looks like he is 95 years old and he’s green. He looks like a wart. He’s got so many wrinkles and he walks with a stick. He’s this crone figure in a big hood. But Piccolo is younger than that in our film, he’s more powerful than that, but he’s still old and in some ways decrepit. His transformation is something we’re going to save until later.

Yeah, my theater had these douchebags constantly talking about if Trunks, Vegeta, and Cell were gonna be in the movie.Tyro wrote:Just got back from seeing the movie. Cinematical just realeased their review, and...well it's not very long but it's basically what everyone has been saying, some characters are just there and there's a lot of stuff going on so little time
I actually enjoyed the movie quite a bit, way more than I thought I would. I didn't like how fast-paced it seemed though, or how underutilized Piccolo felt.
