Only 176 764 tickets (around 800 000 $) have been sold in France during the 1st week, which gives DBE the 7th place at the box office. It's really bad, and the movie won't probably last more than two more weeks in theaters.

It only took less than a minute to do this, but it should still show how perfect he would be for the character. :P

It was just a really OOC moment, and it stood out to me.

When Roshi catches Bulma, it does a quick shot to Roshi's hand grabbing Bulma's butt.
Then Roshi say's "Oops! sorry" and drops her.
I was just sitting in my chair going "NO! Roshi would have kept on grabbing until Bulma hit him, why would he apologize?"

It's weird that single scene stood out to me. :P
Not quite. One thing that comes to mind is when Roshi visits Goku in the hospital after the fight with Vegeta. He gropes a nurse's rear and than apologizes, claiming he has no idea what he's doing anymore due to his age. :P

I know, but it's all my mum gets, other than... The Daily Mail... :x

Plus I wasn't talking about their paper, I was talking about their review.

I'm surprised they didn't say that having a bald villain who gets killed is offensive to Jade Goody's family.

Seriously, they worship the ground she walked then died on.

Ok, I've gotta agree with Mike on these Goku and Chichi scenes. Ho-Ly-Shit. That one where Chichi is licking strawberries made me want to open every single vein in my body.

Damn you Fox. Goddamn you to hell.

That's nothing. The scene with Goku trying to master the Kamehameha was the single most groan-inducing scene in the film.

"For every torch you light, you can move one step closer to me."
"And then what?"
"And then...you'll be right next to me."
"Now...I think you should put them out."

Best. Script. EVER.

Something I noticed; everyone was complaining about Justin Chatwin is too skinny for Goku's role but upon new information Chatwin is probably heavier than "real" Goku. I am referring to the information on the "Super Exciting Guide: Character Volume" which lists Goku at 62 kg and 175 cm.

Chatwin is probably even at the right height despite everyone saying he was smaller.

Oh dear lord. I just watched that... Yeah. I've changed my mind. That strawberry scene is an award winner compared to the torch one.

I just saw Dragon Ball Evolution today and you know what I liked it.

Unlike most people I liked Justin Chatwin's Goku. I thought he matched Goku's personality perfect. At times (espcially in the High School scenes) he reminded me of myself.

Emmy Rossum captured Bulma's personality great from being the techie right down to yelling at Roshi.

Chow Yun-Fat was great as Muten Roshi he captured Roshi's perviness perfectly.

Joon Park as Yamcha really surprised me as his voice was a very good match for Chris Sabat's voice in the dub of the Anime.

Jamie Chung was very good as Chi-Chi I was really impressed.

Eriko Tamura as Mai also impressed me especially when she said Son Goku.

Randall Duk Sim was pretty good as Grandpa Gohan

James Marsters was very badass as Piccolo. He really caputred the evil Piccolo perfectly.

I liked that the Japanese terminology was used such as Su Xing Qiu, Shen Long, Muten Roshi and Son Goku

One thing I hated was how Roshi pronounced Gohan's name. It was pronounced Go-HAN like in the "Big Green" dub of the DBZ movies

My favorite part is when Goku went Oozaru, sure it was for like 5 minutes, but it was still cool.

I liked the song Rule. I really felt that it captured this Dragon Ball timeline perfect

Overall Dragon Ball Evolution was a great movie, and I walked in knowing this would be taken place in an alternate timeline and walked out impressed with what James Wong did to the Dragon Ball Universe.

1) No, he didn't. Goku doesn't obsess over things like women, or make snide comments.
2) Mai didn't do anything. I don't understand how saying the word "son" is impressive. OLOLOL LOOK ORIGINAL STUFFZ. Jesus.

It's his opinion so he can think whatever he wants :?

But yeah I thought Goku was the worst written character along with Mai

So, got a slight rant up... Take a looksie.

My DA journal wrote:So, I just got done watching Dragonball Evolution... Ho. Ly. Shit. Worst thing I've seen in forever. And that's going into this with LOW expectations. Sure, there were a couple times I marked out a little (Let's face it. Goku owning the bullies, despite the fact that a Dodge Charger was destroyed in the process, was pretty awesome. Also, Emmy Rossum far surpassed my expectations as Bulma), but it really was a terrible film. The fights were all anti-climactic. The acting was mostly dull as hell. The Goku and Chichi scenes made me want to slash every vein in my body, and possibly ruined the couple in general for me. There were quite a few mispronounciations. (Seriously. Go-HAN? [as in "hand] Come on, douchebags. Make your free throws.) Most importantly, so many people were out of character, ESPECIALLY Goku. Dear god. Since when did Goku start fantasizing about girls licking strawberries!?

It was just a lousy experience, and one I am damn glad I didn't pay for.

Least it bombed at the box office, so I'm pretty sure we won't get that dreaded sequel.

Oh well. Just a few hours and I can get back to my originally scheduled Dragonball goodness, known as Kai...

I have the right to criticize or challenge an opinion if I so choose. Those two instances aren't something you can "think," he was dead wrong. Chatwin is not the orignal Goku to a T as he said, and Tamura was not impressive because she's either just standing there or fighting. Whether or not these actors gave good or bad performances is irrelevant, truth is the only thing that matters.
