I seriously doubt it; if the variety article was accurate, 20th Century Fox will set their goals low again for the next and so on. I guess the anti-DBE Movement did not work hard enough.Olivier Hague wrote:Possibly direct to DVD?Bura wrote:© 411maniaAl Norton: You mentioned other movies in this series, obviously in a project like this there is hope of doing more but are you already set for them?
James Marsters: I was told the day before yesterday that we're green lit for the second film and it's ok to tell the press.

Oh what a coincidence, I did the same thing!Zackarotto wrote:I went to the theater with a couple buddies last night to check this DBE thing out, and I think it was possibly the greatest film of all time. Oh my god... just brilliant.
The film was so fantastic that my friends and I couldn't stop laughing at all the ridiculous lines as:
"Who the hell are you!?"
"I.... AM GOKU!"
and "KaMeHaMeHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"
Seriously, Chatwin's final "ha" in his kamehameha was waaaay too long, and why did he jump in the air after it?
(we were actually shushed by someone in front of us at one point, but there was no stopping it, the movie was too hilarious.)

Here you go:
…The third new opener, 20th Century Fox’s “Dragonball: Evolution” grossed $4.7 million from 2,181 runs, in line with the studio’s modest expectations.
I have a few questions about this forum and the fans general reaction to the movie. Ever since we heard rumors of it, the die-hard fans started bashing the idea. This type of behavior continued up to what it is presently. Do you think the reason why Fox set such a low budget and expectations was the fans? If so, could it be that said fans are responsible for DBE and all the things that they dislike about the film?

No. Fox made a really cheap, half assed, and all around disappointing movie.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Perhaps a low budget was our fault, but definitely NOT the amount of work put into the film. Even WITH good expectations, the Hollywood syndrome would have effected this movie. However, you bring up an interesting point for sure.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Wasn't the movie assumed to be "dead" (and therefore, not exactly a hot topic of conversation) until the casting call sheets surfaced? I'd think they had already set their budget by then (then again, what do I know?).Saiyan-Professor wrote:Ever since we heard rumors of it, the die-hard fans started bashing the idea. Probably. But a good one? I doubt it.JulieYBM wrote:Had FOX card they'd have made a better film.
After all, it's Fox. I think I could count the decent movies they churned out in the last five years on one hand.

Since we heard of the announcement some fans did bash the idea but some embraced it. Then we got screen shots of Geeko in highschool fighting bullies, yellow Piccolo in his batman outfit, fishzaru, the putty patrol etc. and that's when people started sincerely thinking this movie was shit. So they have nobody but themselves to blame.Saiyan-Professor wrote:I have a few questions about this forum and the fans general reaction to the movie. So if they thought their fans were whining and expecting a bad movie, then they would purposely make a low budget piece of trash to spite the fans?Saiyan-Professor wrote:You and others may feel that way but there is also the possibility that the fans caused them to do all the things mentioned.Chrono Trigger wrote:No. Fox made a really cheap, half assed, and all around disappointing movie.
Doesn't sound like a good business strategy to me.
Not a problem.
Well, if it tells anyone anything, a christian movie review site I usually go to, PluggedIn Online, didn't even review this movie. And they usually review all of them...even The Legend of Chun-Li.
If they do make a sequel. We as a fanbase need to really let our voice be heard on how it should be made...
...well, okay, just THIS forum. We don't need people like Vegeta_DTX helping out.

How so, these people make movies for a living and I am pretty sure that they had their collective ears to the streets as it were. Anyone with common sense that knew that fans of a franchise on the Star Trek and Star-Wars level would go ape shit over changes to their favorite manga/anime. If the project was green-lighted, they put their bets on the non-fans, little kids and those that did not give in to the rhetoric. If they expected a low turn out because all of the above why put a lot of money into the project?Olivier Hague wrote:There is also the possibility you're slightly exaggerating, here. ^^;Saiyan-Professor wrote:there is also the possibility that the fans caused them to do all the things mentioned.
Yeah but everyone on here and abroad did not react in the manner as most of the members of this forum have, personally I enjoyed the movie and felt satisfied.Big Momma wrote:...If they do make a sequel. We as a fanbase need to really let our voice be heard on how it should be made...
