Dragon Ball Evolution - Steelbook DVD Case

Post by Innagadadavida » Mon Apr 13, 2009 9:34 pm

I'm prepared to be crucified for this.

Image

When the DVD comes out, I'd like to special order this case. I'd love to place it next to my other steelbook movies. I'm really excited to add this movie to my collection. Anyway, once I do, I'll put up some more information on how others can order the same case, if anybody is interested.

Also, if anybody knows where I can get some higher resolution promotional images to touch this case up, I'd love some links.

You can download a high quality version on this image's DeviantART page.

EDIT: And credit for the source of the images goes to DBthemovie.com
Their image gallery is great.

That's actually really well done. What program did you use to make that?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I used Photoshop. Just cut and pasted promotional images and logos together. It's nothing special, but I'm planning on designing a back side too. The Steelbook website allows special orders. Steelbook is the company that FUNimation works with to release their Double Features.

lol wut?

I didn't touch his eyebrows, if there's anything wrong with them then it's because of the original image.

I don't even want to know how expensive that is. Wait, maybe I do. Any idea?

I know, but because of that I would've gone with a different picture of Chatwin in one of Goku's gis.

Hey, Inna,
would you be kind enough to provide the .psd of this? I'm interested in tinkering with it myself actually...
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I tried to find out, but I'd have to place an order and "I'm not ready for that." But if I had to guess, I'd say $50 for a case at max.

That was the highest quality, cleanest image I could find. The pose was only my second concern. Besides, what's so wrong with the eyebrows?

No problem, man. Here's the case:

And here's the Justin Chatwin image. I had to do some touchups and color removal on the edges, so you might need this.

Mini rant - GOD, I HATE THE NEW MEGAUPLOAD THINGS. I can read them, I just get them wrong. >_>/rant

Thanks Inna, once I get that thing right I'll take a stab. My main problem is the picture of Goku you used; if I was good enough with PS I'd see if I couldn't take the one from the original teaser with the dragonball in his hand.

I would have used a better picture. But that was the largest clean promotional image that I could track down. The other ones were tiny and had words across his body. I didn't have many options.

That is actually quite impressive! I like it a lot... Awesome job! But, I would actually make it a double feature along with "The Magic Begins".

So how exactly do you special order custom steelbooks?

My only problems with it are that when viewed in high-res the logo is extremely low-res compared to the other images and clashes with the "cleanness" of the rest of the case design, and the fact that Chatku isn't in his gi (but I understand why he isn't).

Other than that, good job thar.

Compare them with any other picture of Chatwin as Goku. They just look... off. They look way thinner then usual, and almost nonexistent.

Normal eyebrows.

More normal eyebrows.

Yep, still eyebrows.

What the fuck?!

Any chance of someone using the image of Goku from the Japanese poster?

A picture of someone's back doesn't make for good cover art. :P

I beg to differ. :P

That's a great picture of Chatku. In that gi, holding the dragonball. Someone(I believe Kendamu) was right we they said it captured the feel of Dragon Ball better than any other of the promotional things for the movie.
