Dragon Ball: Evolution- Speculation and Discussion
The budget for a DBZ movie would be much more though considering energy blast and flying. It would probably be around 70 million and if the first movie was a flop then the second one can't do much better. The only way it could become a hit is if they adapted it right. So out with James Wong and in with Micheal Bay! Yeah right. LOL
Aka gtadbzman.

If Michael Bay was involved, I think I would vomit due to the fact that there would be probably 20-30 energy beam battles that conclude with the beam being sent off into the distance and a huge explosion.Budokai23 wrote:The budget for a DBZ movie would be much more though considering energy blast and flying. Anyway, I'm glad Ben Ramsey is off this. (Assuming he's responsible for most of the flaws in the story).

I still blame Fox in general. I mean, these are the same people who took away Arrested Development, and gave us Bill O'Reilly, Family Guy, and Digger. (Other NASCAR fans will understand what I mean with that last one.)
It's like I said on Twitter once... "Gah... Y'know Fox, you really, really fail. At everything. Except for sucking. You're pretty good at sucking."

I love how they justified taking Firefly off the air: "The plot is too dificult to follow if you miss an episode, unlike 24."Saiyavenger2941 wrote:I still blame Fox in general. I wonder how everyone would react if FOX came out with a DBE series (cartoon for Saturdays)? Would it work best as a sequel, or a retelling of the movie?

It's just that you're saying things like "DBE make can help with suicide". It gets really old after almost two years of hearing the same stuff about this movie. It's out, and it flopped. Just leave it be.Saiyavenger2941 wrote:Goddamn, how did I become this site's new favorite target?Pain wrote:You sound like a whiny baby.Saiyavenger2941 wrote: I'd say it'd work real well as a tool for assisted suicide.

Bleach Title Of The Week: All Colour But the Black
I made the lonely trek to the theater earlier this morning to catch a matinee screening of Dragonball Evolution. I was the first of about six other people whom eventually showed up to share this viewing with me. As such I had the run of the theater, and as I settled down in the perfect seat to wait for the film to begin, a number of thoughts and feelings began to run through my brain.
I've been a fan of Dragon Ball for a little over twelve years now. During the early years of my fandom, my greatest dream was to see some of my favorite characters in live action on the silver screen. I thought there was nothing that could have been more rad than seeing the epic struggle between Son Goku's Kamehame-Ha and Vegeta's Galic-Ho brought to life through the glorious magic of Hollywood. While I attribute that starry-eyed dream to the naivete of my youth, I still found myself sitting in my seat...hoping.
I had read the DBE Junior Novel over a month ago, so I knew exactly what to expect as far as the story was concerned, and had plenty of time to digest the innevitable changes. So there I sat with an open mind, and the movie began.
While I'm not going to defend this bad film, and it was bad, I will say it's not the most offensive thing I've ever seen. I watched Mortal Kombat Annihilation no more than two weeks ago. That is a true cinematic abomination, not counting god awful independent films like "Manos," the Hands of Fate.
DBE for me was mostly disappointing. My imagination, coupled with the final Neo vs Smith fight in The Matrix Revolutions, had set such a tremendously high benchmark that I expected a Dragon Ball film to at least meet, that given the talent involved and the budget, it never had a prayer. I could sit here and whine about all of the tiny idiocies of the script. I could sit here and bemoan the climax, or lack thereof. I could sit here and decry the rushed production, thanks to the writers strike. But it has taken enough grief at this point.
I was left in my seat after the film, mostly feeling bitter towards Fox. They've butchered countless favorites of mine in the past. Most recent offenders being Fantastic Four, Galactus, X-Men 3, and Deadpool. But this time they took a thirteen-year-old's dream, and crushed it under their boot with a sort of glee. They didn't destroy my childhood, as some other internet manchildren would say. I still have the original books and anime to go back to any time I wish, and can pass them on to my children someday. But they finally did snuff out that naive dream.

If your source is accurate, and they inexplicably move forward with a sequel, then let us hope they approach the next film in a completely different manner.JAPPO wrote:Well I got news from a good source of mine. Ben Ramsey, the screenwriter, won't be involved in the sequels. They're getting someone else.
