What premise would you use to introduce a stronger villain?
What premise would you use to introduce a stronger villain?
It seems GT recycled plot elements because it had no choice to; everything had been done before. Aliens, demons, robots, fusions... Goku and co have become stronger than everything in existence. If another villain were to show up, there doesn't seem to be any way the villain could pose a realistic threat. So how would you introduce a new threat?
Here's my suggestions:
1) Demon Realm: Being a world of chaos, anything is possible. Maybe a new kind of demon can come into being.
2) No access to regula power ups: A villain at least as powerful as Cell shows up and has the ability to counteract SSJ transformations.
3) Mirror Universe: The cast from another reality shows up. This version's "heroes" are all evil versions of the ones we know.

I don't think there should be any new villains or heroes in DBZ. Its ended, and there's a reason (besides Akira Toriyama getting tired of it) why. Goku and his friends got so strong, you can't introduce a new villain without it being just as stupid as hell. That may be another reason why in GT they made Goku into a kid; if they hadn't made him a little weaker the villains being stronger than him wouldn't really make sense.
That's why I actually don't think a new DB series would be good at all.

Just for fun, I'd like to see some funny one-shot Toriyama stuff where old villains would fuse to become new villains that would pose a threat. Maybe Freeza and Cell learn the Fusion Dance, escape from Hell, and give Piccolo some trouble one day out in his "good ol' wasteland" or something. Thing is, he's unable to defeat them throughout most of the comic. Just as all hope seems lost, the Fusion runs out and Piccolo kills them both in one blow.
I'd like to see it from a comedic standpoint, though. Not a serious "badass" one.

A villain who starts out significantly weaker than the heroes, but is capable of possessing them and leeching off their own power, twisting and enhancing it to serve his needs.
... Oh, wait.
Okay then, uh, how about a villain who effortlessly absorbs ki, which the heroes keep pumping into him because they're dumb and don't realize what's going on until it's too late?
... Oh, wait.
Uh, how about a villain who's essentially a massive collection of pent-up evil energy collected over eons?
... Oh wait.
Well, how about a villain who's the illegitimate spawn of a Super Saiyan and a Kaioshin?
... Oh, wait.

Re: What premice would you use to introduce a stronger villa
I would rather see the movie villains used in main continuity but powered up versions of them, even Slug but I would prefer Super Namek 2 Piccolo to escape/released from Hell and fight him.Dayspring wrote:It seems GT recycled plot elements because it had no choice to; everything had been done before. I would love for these guys to show up as well but have Onio functioning as a Nappa’s replacement. I would love to see Onio showing up kissing Vegeta’s ass since Vegeta is the king and Vegeta attempting to get Onio to leave him alone.Dayspring wrote:Ooooh... Onio+Kuriza in NMZ6!

Well it's not quite the same, but in the "OVA" (I know, "There is no OVA!". I don't remember the full name) they meet lots of old villains like Tullece and Lord Slug and Freeza. They are not more powerful, but they keep regenerating, exhausting the heroes.Saiyan-Professor wrote:

Again, in the "OVA", something similar happens, except that the heroes can't use their ki due to a strange gas, making weaker opponents tougher.Dayspring wrote: 2) No access to regula power ups: A villain at least as powerful as Cell shows up and has the ability to counteract SSJ transformations.
EDIT:
I would love to see the following (I know it's just like the Bebi arc in GT):
Kid Buu got reborn as Uub. A great fight occurs, pre-GT, and Kuririn dies. He is still kinda young, no old-man mustache Kuririn here! Just a sweet pimpin' Kuririn.
When he is to be wished back, King Yemma accidentally mixes Kuririn's soul with some fragments of the old Kid Buu soul while sending Kuririn through a portal (like in the movie "The Fly").
Krillin gets wished back, but now as a mix of Kid Buu and Kuririn. Like if Kid Buu absorbed Kuririn.
So, first everyone is shocked, but they get used to it.
But soon, the Kid Buu cells start to take over, and we get Kuririn Buu that is totally evil and knows every fighter's weaknesses (memories from Kuririn).
He absorbs Mr. Buu and becomes....
...wait for it...
SUPPA KURIRIN BOO!
...
I should stop this now.

Yeah, I am familiar with the OVA (yeah that is not the name but that is what everyone called it), I really liked it. It would have made a great animated movie.Wojak wrote:Well it's not quite the same, but in the "OVA" (I know, "There is no OVA!". Well technically the Movie villains do not exist in the main continuity of the anime, so Toei can take a few elements from the movies but do what they desire. Reintroduce them in a setting that fits what have already been laid down in the series. During the 10-year gap, Tullece could show up powered by the fruit from the Shinseijû (Tree of Godly Might), and wreck shop on the Z-Senshi. Janenba could show up sometime after Majin Buu when Kakarrot is training Uub and so on. A lot of the rest of the villains could show up during this time and some after Kakarrot leaves with Shenlong in GT.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.
Re: What premice would you use to introduce a stronger villa
I guess we should just refer to it as a DTV instead of OVA. That way, when people argue it was a video game first, we can just counter by saying the "V" in DTV stands for "video game."Saiyan-Professor wrote:Yeah, I am familiar with the OVA (yeah that is not the name but that is what everyone called it), I really liked it. Anyhoo, I could easily see some of the movies getting sagas similar to Garlick Jr. For things like movie 3, they could use footage from the movie in a flashback, and then say something like "Tullece, defeated, then left Earth" after they show a flashback of him getting hit by the genkidama. That way, the anime continuity is different from the movie, while still having movie 3 in its continuity.

As for a new threat, I'd like something where beings who have special abilities that catch the heroes off guard. Like the guy from Territories from YuYu Hakusho or swords with the the ability to make things heavier or take away your senses or any number of the different attributes of the zanpakuto of the Bleach series (I just re-watched the entire YuYu Hakuso series and watched 187 episodes of Bleach and like how some characters who where physically weaker could still pose a threat to the main characters). The Tim Taylor-syndrome that in the last half of Dragonball Z make it difficult to take it seriously, and GT lost all of it's common sense.

As much as I love some of DBZ's villains, I also love a good manipulative villain and think that someone that could twist reality or challenge relationships could be very interesting and dangerous, without being overly physically powerful.
I personally liked Babidi for this reason, even though that was a pretty poor example, given that Vegeta welcomed it. I've seen it done in fanfiction a few times and if it's done right, it can be a pretty emotionally draining and hard fight.
I also like the idea of doppelgangers, again if done right. This tends to overused or done poorly so that it becomes an almost cliche idea but if done right can equal a pretty awesome challenge. I'd be interested to find if only the Z warriors were presented with doppelgangers or if characters like Bulma, Bra, ChiChi, etc. (folks who usually sit on the sidelines) would have doubles as well. I loved Bebi-possessed Bulma because she was pretty twisted so I think a villain like that could be dangerous in their own right.
And if you wanted to add a twist, you could always make doppelgangers of the usual Z villains and make them good guys. Trying to picture the original Z warriors and a "good guy" Freeza or Cell is amusing to me.
Ulisa;)

As for new villains, I suggest someone using biological weapons to wipe out all the Super Saiyans etc, leaving weaker fighters to carry on the series.
