I believe Amazon lists items that aren't official. I think it depends on how many people search for the item. I could be wrong because I read about this somewhere and I can't remember where.

Edit: I believe I read it here.

Wow that shall be interesting to see! Just as they are finishing with the DVD releases as well. I can see it being a good marketing strategy for a couple of reasons. First when they released season 1 way back 2 years ago i wouldn't imagine Blu-Ray as being widely used as it is now (Although i have to admit i still do not own a player!). Second being that the price may have been reduced for consumers during this economic crisis. Thirdly all the people who bought the orange box sets who liked them shall be tempted in to getting another copy just to see the difference.

It shall be interesting to see if they make any changes to these sets.

Edit: Just read your message. Still can maybe hope! Always nice to have a bit more DB merchandise for us to grab while we can! 8)

I think I saw a thread on this awhile back. If a certain number of of people look up an item on amazon, they put a place holder down. Look up Star Wars on BluRay and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Amazon has had that up for a very, very long time already.

It's the Orange Bricks... Would this make the Blu Bricks?

The special features in Season One talks about how they remastered them in High-definition. Of course they're going to release the season sets in HD that was probably the plan from the beginning.

If they seriously make this in fullscreen... I'm gonna be fudgin' someone up this year.

Damn, that concept pic looks MINT if you did it. And if the series really is coming to Blu-ray, man I hope they go with more selective cropping this time out. Probably not though.

Animated series/movies are the only reason I would ever get a player, because they look incredible, and I would jump at the chance to own HD DBZ. Live-action stuff doesn't look that much better to me. =/

They're not going to make this full screen. Blu-Ray is fit for HDTVs and HDTVs are wide screen. That was the entire point of making it cropped in the first place.

Blu-Ray stuff doesn't have to be widescreen. Most companies are smart enough to just keep their releases in the original aspect ratio. FUNi's gotten a lot of backlash over the widescreen, and if they were able to fix it, I'm sure they would.

It's a good/bad situation for me, since (as you may know) I'm getting the whole series from the box sets that were released by FUNi from 1999-2004. If they make the release fullscreen, that's good, because then I don't have to shell out $100 for a VHS (yeah, you read $100 and VHS together) box set of the Frieza Saga (Uncut). On a bad note, this shows that I just wasted $40 on the Cell Games Saga (Uncut) box set released in 2004. :? But I still think I'm gonna continue buying the 1999-2004 box sets, just because they're so kick-ass and nostalgic like that. :P

By the way, awesome sig, Taku128! :)

They've gotten a lot of "backlash", but it doesn't affect them. Either way, people still buy their releases. They won't make their Blu-Ray full screen when their regular DVD release was wide screen. The simple reason being that the entire point of the Season Sets was to buffer the show up for a Blu-Ray release. People are still buying it and it is doing relatively well. And the general consensus is that the Blu-Ray releases of the movies look great, so as long as that's an option, they won't go to full screen. That's just a fantasy that fans still have. It won't happen. Especially with Dragon Ball Kai doing the same thing right now.

Why VHS? Nostalgia? You can buy the same individual DVDs for a little less. And you can buy a box for them from Paul Champagne, I think it looks pretty ballin'.

I think he said VHS because DVDs of certain things are hard to find. Back when I was Dragon Ball/Z/ hunting on Ebay for the DVDs, a lot of the stuff was VHS. After I got all of the later FUNimation dubs, I got this nostalgic feeling and decided to get the Ocean Dub as well. All I could find was VHS. I got lucky that I found one person on there selling both the "Saiyan Conflict" and "Namek Saga" along with "The Tree of Might" (Ocean Dub) for $35. Great price for it I think. Anyway, that was like a year ago and a half, I can only imagine what it's like now. I tried looking for Fatal Fury DVDs and only found VHS too. I know that it alternates, like this week it could be you only find VHS and the next week someone decides they want to sell their DVDs, but I'm just saying that for a particular time, I could only find VHS of certain things.

I heard recently Blue Gender was going to be in its original 4:3. Also I have the Green Jacket series of Lupin on blu-ray and it is in 4:3. So if they can do it, and if Funimation really cared for their fans, and give them a somewhat reason to double, double, DOUBLE, dip, they would have the sense to it optional 4:3, or 16:9.....but then again we all know Funimation...

But I really think they should just wait and release Kai on blu-ray, I mean it's actually meant for HD.

lol They don't care about their fans. And this was already made in 16:9. If those other shows were made in wide screen and then transferred to Blu-Ray in full screen, it's different. But this is the same release (hence the title), just in Blu-Ray.

But if you still have doubts, just wait and see. But don't hope for miracles.

Fans are clingy complaining dipshits who will never ever be greatful for any concession you make. The moment you shut out their shrill tremulous voices, the happier you'll be.

I'll give a cookie to anybody who knows where that's from and can finish that phrase.
