I've never seen the manga that far in, as stated I was reffering to the anime only. I never read the manga very far, because Viz's funk just pisses me off.

What funk? Slight dialouge rewrites or differently interpreted name translations?

(Of course I'm not talking about the "H-word" that's one thing I can't defend Viz on.)

But Vegerot is defensible? lol The H word isn't that bad and they probably used it because that was the name that US fans were most accustomed to calling him because of FUNimation.

Yes it is

There is no Kakarotto in the American comics or anime. Therefore Vegetto doesn't work because that extra "to" is coming out of nowhere. Vegett doesn't roll off the tongue at all and sounds way too much like Vegeta so they rearranged the name to make Vegerot.

Hercule is just pandering to the crying christian soccer moms who can't hear the word Satan without shitting their pants.

Well there you go. You just explained it. Vegito COULD make sense...I mean there is an "o" in Goku lol Oh come on. You know that if FUNimation were to call him Vegerot, you'd be pissed. FUNimation has been pretty good with keeping the Japanese names. Unless it's a completely useless character who has their name mentioned once like in the background somewhere, they're pretty good with the names. They may not have "Kakaroto", but on the subs it says "Kakarrot", just like Kabito is "Kabit" and Guldo is "Gurd". I think that they kept the "o" in Kabito and Guldo because that's how they're pronounced and plus because it's easy to say. But "Kakaroto" isn't all that easy to say in English. They'd have to whip out a wannabe Japanese accent in order to say it. Wouldn't fit with the rest of the dialog.

The "o" in Goku is in the middle not at the end, and anyway Gogeta is where Gokus name comes into play, Vegetto's name comes from Kakarotto and Vegeta.

And no I wouldn't be pissed if they reasonably changed a name. If I'm not pissed at Viz which is another English translating company why would I have been mad at Funimation?

I'm not saying they SHOULD of kept Kakarotto but my point is Vegetto doesn't make sense without that extra "to" in Kakarotto therefore if they wanted to keep the name the same and Americanize it they would of had to call him "Vegett" which is a lot more awkward to say then Vegerot in my opinion.

If I was going to change Vegetto's name instead of just letting it roll as-is, I would've probably just gone with 'Gogeta'.

Fans would be just as pissed off most likely. Especially since that would look like a sloppy mistake.

Lets see, the removal of Mr. Popo's lips, the removal of a gun, the inability to say "Hell's Flash" "Mr. Satan" and a few other names, later censoring of what was originally uncensored (I have the Viz comic releases through early Freeza saga in Z, and through mid RRA in DB and those were good, but they changed their approach), and as mentioned above Vegerot.

I refused to put up with the anime in censored form, I will refuse the same with the manga.

ESPECIALLY because I know Viz can do SO much better.

If very slight censorship and a name change or two is all it takes to set you off then okay.

Eh, I'd put a note.

*"Vegetto" in the original. Altered here because there is no -to in 'Kakarot' in our translation.

I can deal with censorship when its broadcast television, I'm getting that for free. I refuse to pay for a product thats been censored for no real reason, again, especially when the company can do better.

I think you're giving far too much credit to the Dragonball fanbase.

The removal of Popo's lips was a completely understandable move. It's not like the lips served any purpose to the story. Them being unedited would have caused more harm than good.

A total, complete waste of time, since the note then clarifies the name thus rendering the use of "Gogeta" utterly useless.

I hope this was a joke.

Appears where? In the Anime he has lips exactly like he has in the Manga.
