The timeslot does not matter, last weeks episode of one piece was much more violent then this episode of Kai.

I would laugh if they fixed every other Nappa scene to match his color here. Actually, it's a pretty nice color.

I was surprised at the censoring in this episode, but other than that, it was great. It moved along very quickly, but didn't feel rushed. The remastering was really good, and I loved the color correction for Vegeta's color scheme.

I think the censhorship is done because of new audience..... You know, originally it took over 10 years, so the audience grow with the story in manga and TV, now the audience is and will be children, not people 12+

But that censored winkie of Goku looks little hilarious and weird..... All the people in Dragon Ball are now like Namekians

Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Kunzait_83 wrote:And I don’t care what anyone says… it’s a fucking hole in the manga. It should be a hole in the anime as well, especially if Kai is supposed to be the “manga-perfect” edition. As far as I’m concerned, Kai is now anything but.
I always hear people say "closer to the manga" until something from the manga doesn't make it in or something is added. Then suddently it was supposed to be "manga-perfect" instead of just closer. I haven't watched anyone in particular well enough to know who exactly said what and when (that's what quoting is for), but I have noticed it. It probably wasn't even you, Kunzait. Your post just reminded me of that.
And I agree wholeheartedly with the “hypocrisy” claim made by some. If you’re someone who bitched about the censorship made by Saban, but have no problems whatsoever with Toei doing much the same thing here, then yes you are indeed being a hypocrite. Censorship is censorship, regardless of who is behind it.
It's been over a decade since the Saban days started. As some of us have said before, we may not like the censorship but I'm not 16-year-old Josh anymore. 16-year-old Josh would've thrown a fit over it. 25-year-old Josh doesn't like it, but his priorities are elsewhere at the moment. Such does not make me a hypocrite nor does it anyone else who was there for the Saban days who isn't flipping his or her lid over children's television censorship.

If both the Saban version and Kai were airing for the first time simultaneously and Toei got a "free pass" while Saban didn't, only then would we be hypocrites.

Okay. That's fine. I just don't want people to be seen as hypocrites over their outlook on televised Dragonball changing over the years. Someone who says, "That stinks. Oh well, I'll live," doesn't deserve unfair treatment because they're a minority to the "FUCK KAI!" crowd.

I just watched episode 3 and I really wasn't impressed, the censorship and tracing in this episode were absolutely horrendous, from the linework to the colouring it looks extremely amateurish and sticks out like a sore thumb, and it seems the entire point of the tracing was to edit the show to fit current broadcast standards, not try to improve it like we were lead to believe.

No.

Saban's Crime: Edited the Series for Broadcast, and the Edited version was the only version made available on Home video at the time.

Toei's Crime: Edited the series for Broadcast. The entire series is availble uncut. (You can still buy Z if you don't like Kai)

not to mention the Saban Edits were FAR more varied and ridiculous. If they use "HFIL" or have Tenshinhan go "JUST YOU WAIT TILL IT GROWS BACK!!" "That was Just a Cargo-Robot!" or "Your Father was a BRILLIANT SCIENTIST!!" and people still defend it, then you've got an argument.

Dragon Ball *Z* is available uncut. Not so with Dragonball Kai.

This IS Uncut. Dragon Ball Kai was MADE this way.
If DBK is it's own entity, then DBK never had the gaping hole to begin with.

From what I've read in the DaizEX chat, many times in modern anime when something from the manga is censored, it shows up uncut on the DVD.

Wasted Wisher said he was animating it censored, so I really don't know what to say... I should probably PM him.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Maybe the DVD version will have a cropped shot of the original footage rather than the reanimated censored version.

What would be the point of redrawing scenes if the paying customers don't get to see them? If they do release fully uncut DVDs, they will probably just..... draw a hole.

This makes some sense because the show has the two times Raditz spit blood from (his) mouth. Why (are they) keeping those two moments if they are going to remove all the blood??

Seems so far that not absolutely everything is re-drawn. A not-so-redrawn Goku/Raditz death scene might make it to the DVD version.
