I heard that movie wasn't even very good. :SChuquita wrote: *Checks Titanic's Wiki Page*Okay, that just cements that FOX can do better than whatever they did with DBE. Work harder! Show some initiative! I know you can't pull a Titanic out of Dragon Ball, FOX, but if you reboot with a higher quality cast/director/writer I know you can get better results if you work at it!The film accumulated a grand total of $1,848,813,795 worldwide, and to this day Titanic retains the record as the most successful box office film in history, unadjusted for inflation.
*Sits tight and hopes for an eventual reboot*.

Its been forever since I've seen it, but watching them try to escape the sinking vessel was the part I looked forward to the most. There's one part where the ship is turned up on its side and everyone's hanging onto the front bars; there's one guy who's hanging there casually smoking a pipe if I recall. XD

Uh that's James Cameron, the guy who made Alien and Terminator. Of course his movies are awesome, it's James Cameron! He's currently working on Avatar for Fox, and it'll be revolutionary. To even think that a director like James Cameron would work on Dragonball for ANY studio is just wrong.
And sorry to say, but a reboot will probably never happen. I'd say a sequel or nothing. Dragonball hasn't exactly proved itself to be profitable at the box office.

And that's nobody's fault but FOX. I whole-heartedly believe that Dragon Ball does have the potential. A different Dragon Ball movie could have attracted fans and non-fans. This movie attracts hardly any of either.JAPPO wrote:Uh that's James Cameron, the guy who made Alien and Terminator. Of course his movies are awesome, it's James Cameron! Oh, definitely Fox did screw up with the promotion. Hardly anyone even knew this movie existed. But I don't see a logical reason why Fox would *reboot* the franchise when it's just started. It would take a lot more work and money than a sequel that they can do easier and cheaper, and then try to promote better.Innagadadavida wrote:And that's nobody's fault but FOX. Well, The Incredible Hulk was rebooted just as it was started. I don't see how a sequel is more likely than a reboot, or vice versa. It's just up to Fox, whether or not they see potential in the franchise, and how they want to extract profit from that.JAPPO wrote: Oh, definitely Fox did screw up with the promotion. Rod wrote:I taught you guys were talking about The Last Airbender when I read "AVATAR" partly because I can just see the DBE fiasco again with Last Airbender
Actually, from what I hear, The Last Airbender's got the series creators there on-site to supervise everything and make sure nothing ridiculous happens. To my knowledge, Mr. Toriyama was never in Durango or Mexico City at all.

It was the tacked on romance that got it that much money, though. Preteen girls were seeing it fifteen times to blubber over Jack dying.laserkid wrote:It had good special effects, and the sinking of the boat was awesome. Tacked on romance story was kinda shallow and stupid though.
Preteen boys were seeing it twice for the couple minutes of boobies.

Anyway, I already posted this, but Toriyama did supervise some things:
Q: Did Akira Toriyama give you his blessing?
James Wong: It was interesting because when we first started in prep on it, we had sent the script over to Toriyama and Shueisha, which is the company that represented the interests of Dragonball. They came over and I showed them all my sketches and the visual elements of the movie that I was going to do. So they had access to all the pre-production stuff, and I think there were concerns from Mr. Toriyama about the look of Roshi in particular, since he didn’t have the long beard, and he had concerns about some of the adaptations that we were going to do. When we went to Japan, the Fox Japan people told me that he’d seen the movie and he’d loved the pace. Even though he was concerned about Roshi, he really loved Chow Yun-Fat’s portrayal, and he loved Justin. So I think we had a really good response from him. And rightly so, he had some concerns, but I think we hopefully helped alleviate those.
Q: Did he have any input into the script at all?
James Wong: He had comments into things in the script that we’d shown [him], and he had comments about the visual effects and we tried to accommodate those.

There's more but I'm not going to compile a list of all the times it's said he contributed.

Maybe it wont be so bad, I just don't want to see a stupid plot twist at the end; Aang and Zuko are brothersChuquita wrote:Rod wrote:I taught you guys were talking about The Last Airbender when I read "AVATAR" partly because I can just see the DBE fiasco again with Last Airbender

Oh yeah, he's Mr. "What-a-Twist!" Guy, isn't he? o_O;;
*Wishes you well* @_@
While looking for that Toyble Chatku drawing, I found these in my imageshack that were from one of the older trailers:

Whatever happened to that? Those were two shots that actually looked like Dragon Ball to me.
