Gohan is stuntin' like his adoptive daddy! I love the cape so much on him!
Well, it's not gohan and videl fan art...but here is my favorite gohan of the series and definitely a moment that burns in ever DB fans hearts! Enjoy made in my sketchbook with watercolor paint and pen and ink.
and lookie here is a nice lil detail of the actual size of the scan!

Eh, still needs more Videl.
And Gohan needs about 6 more years on him.
Artistically, very very awesome, and one of your best. When it comes to the character, though... Not so much.

Lol! I do enjoy saiyaman and saiyaman 2. And wasn't it a seven year time skip before he met Videl? I honestly wasn't wild on any of the episodes after the 25th Tenkaichi (save for majin vegeta, fusion characters and ultimate gohan) But saiyaman I like, I think he's subject for a lot of debate among gohan fans, who think its a horrible regression to how hardcore he was against cell, but I like him through and through I just didn't like how his role in the story diminished as it went on after that.

You ain't the only one. As good as the end of the Buu fight was, I still can't help but glare at the screen when Goku finishes him off, knowing that Gohan was the one that Toriyama originally intended as the winner.

Yes, because "Bullshit-powered-up Gohan, Protector of Earth" worked out so well last time.

WoA h Woah. bullshit powerup?? I think the entire Z era was building up to that moment, I definitely think it wasn't strange or random. Gohan was ALREADy stronger than goku, if he fought as well as goku or smart as piccolo, lvl1 I think he coulda taken cell. But the push of anger gave him a powerup, like it always did, makes sense that if he got one as a super saiyan, something special would happen. Regardless of if he was right for main character, within that arc I think it was a beautiful scene and really made a lot of sense. God the cell/android era is full of poor decisions but it ends so well I think. But we all have the right to not like gohan...or not like him being a shoved into the hero role...

I think maybe if gohan had a bit more of a role in the ending battle, fans might have been happier, Like Ultimate gohan was built up, gohan himself was built up from the beginning with all this potential, then he kinda gets beaten...I am not as familiar with that arc though, but It's almost like the author had buu outsmart gohan to get him outta the way and get it back to goku.

Technically, it was just a huge case of executive meddling. Toriyama had it all set up for Mystic Gohan to be the final savior of the series, and leaving Goku dead. However, the Goku fanboys RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGED and the people above Toriyama told him to make Goku the final hero.
So, Goku comes back to life, Gohan gets absorbed and is pretty much never heard from again until the timeskip (following the manga, at least) in favor of the drastically overrated Goku (There. I said it. Sue me.) and Vegeta, and Gohan fanboys such as me just sit there asking "what the fuck?".

No problem pointing
that out, I consider myself more of a Goku fan than a Gohan or Vegeta one, and I'll gladly acknowledge that he really is blown out of proportion at times. I mean... "Dragon Fist Explosion!! If Goku Won't Do It, Who Will?"?
Seriously?
Also, pretty sweet art TheAmericanDream.

Lol...he's the main character, I let him kinda get away with it, but as a Vegeta piccolo tenshinhan fan, I just got used to it as the series went on. Vegeta got to help out a lot at the end, I mean it was HIS plan to save the world, I wanna argue he was as essential as goku, and fat boo too. Man it would have been sick of somehow tenshinhan had some technique to just survive against kid boo..thatd be so like him...I dunno I like seeing my characters help however they can, so just seeing gohan donating his energy with everyone softened the blow some for me. The real issue is how they built up gohan, its really jerking the audience around.

I do not at all want this thread to become a Gohan hate thread...I think that's just silly, or even hate gohan being a hero thread. I think Gohan definitely didn't earn his power as much as say Tenshinhan, Goku, Vegeta, Kuririn, piccolo who all train pretty damn hard. But Gohan is determined and he fights for what's right, I think it was set up so long ago anyway with the saiyan arc, I hope you aren't referring to the Room of Spirit and Time. Him and Goku were training for days on end in there, and with Piccolo he trains hard too, course he's a saiyan, Goku's kid and so many other factors, but the fact does remain he trained hard. I think you have every right to hate Gohan..or hate Gohan being a hero, but I haven't really seen any valid arguements against him in the Cell arc, that's basically spitting on the entire Z series as far as I am concerned since I always saw Z as halfway being Gohan's story as a reluctant hero who just wants to save his friends. But to each his own.

Lord me and my friends had so much fun with that line from movie 13 in the American version of the sparking game, Goku says "If I don't who will" If I don't what? Fighting against Gohan it's like, if you don't kill your own son who will? lol, I love dragonball games for silly stuff like that. That was a random rant but that's all that Goku quote makes me think of, I think it's weird too how that whole movie is sorta Trunks/Tapion centric and yet Goku saves the day at the end. And doesn't Gotenks get literally beaten out of Super Saiyan 3? Yea Gotenks should have beaten Hildergarn.
I was thinking more Frank Miller circa DKR myself, but regardless... <Tori-Bot>
Oh, DKR which comic is that?
Thanks everyone for the comments, I was out of the franchise for a long time (In college teachers are like I hate anime and DBZ) but I been loving doing all this fan art lately, so expect some more coolness!
Lots of Tenshinhan Piccolo and Kuririn action since those are my favorites, but I wanna do some more Super Saiyans lately.

Man you are shameless...lol, maybe one day. I can say at least, I've never drawn Videl, if I ever do, Gohan or Saiyaman will most likely be there.

He was referring to Gohan's "Ultimate Gohan" power-up in the Boo arc, which he gets by sitting in front of the Old Kaioshin for hours on end as the Old Kaioshin unlocks his hidden potential or something.
Nice drawing BTW.

He walks in weaker than Freeza. He walks out stronger than anything in the universe, with the possible exceptions of Cell and Dabura. Vegeta and Trunks go in twice and don't even match Goku.
I haven't really seen any valid arguements against him in the Cell arc,
How about that he spends the entire Cell Games whining about how he doesn't want to fight? Even after he becomes a Super Saiyan 2 (because some random android got killed?), he gives up and tells Cell to just kill him and everybody else so they can all go be with his dad.
Way to be the hero, Gohan.
that's basically spitting on the entire Z series as far as I am concerned since I always saw Z as halfway being Gohan's story as a reluctant hero who just wants to save his friends.
He's never the hero until the Cell Games. He spends the whole of the Android Saga chilling out in the background and he's not even in the group fight vs 18 and 17.
