Gohan didn't even get a zenkai from being beat nearly to death. Mystic is literally every possible scrap of power he had.
Probably. Although zenkais had fallen out of noticeable use for most of the characters by that point. Maybe because their bodies were already trained to their maximum potential (though their ki continued to increase). Buu's comment about Gohan fighting him being pointless because he wouldn't get any stronger could have just been meant like, "What's the point in reviving and trying again when the same thing will just happen?"
But yeah, if he could use SSJ at that point, after Dende revived him, you'd think he would have.
Edit: We've gotten a bit off topic here...

Here are the lies, or rumours, that I've heard from others, or assumed myself.
Paikuhan was Piccolo's brother (they were both green).
Selypa was Goku's mother (debatable, but I think not).
Freeza was female (come on, just look at his final form).
Vegetto was Super Saiyan 2 when he fought Super Gohan Boo (because of the lightning aura he had in the manga and anime when he first transformed, and from the aura in Budokai 3).
Tapion's sword is the one Future Trunks used.
Super Boo absorbed Vegeta, Cell & Freeza in the anime series (this was because of Budokai 2).
Tien and Yamcha were close in power because of their “Tiencha” fusion in Budokai 2.
Dragon Ball AF was an actual series and Goku would eventually transform to Super Saiyan 10.
There were cheat codes to unlock characters such as Gogeta in SSJ and SSJ4, Kid Goku, Uub and other Budokai 3 characters in Budokai 2 (found it off some site).
If Mystic Gohan went Super Saiyan, the planet would explode.
Goku turns evil (I mistakenly thought this after seeing "Goku" looking evil with a scouter)
GT Goku never transformed into a Super Saiyan 3 in the series. I had seen SSJ3 GT Goku in the video games, but I just assumed that even though he never used it, the makers threw it in like they had Oozaru Raditz. Then I watched the anime and realized that I was wrong.
Akira Toriyama died from a heart attack.
Trunks went Super Saiyan 2 (because of his hair when he went back to the future and the video games had Trunks able to become SSJ2).
This isn't really a lie or a rumour, but I had a Dragon Ball Z poster with all the Z-Fighters on it. For a while, I thought that Yamcha was Gohan from the Majin Boo Saga because he had the same hair as Gohan, but then I found out that it was actually Gohan when I played Budokai 2.

Here's a weird one I've heard.
Videl is the reincarnation of Selypa.

Completely not debatable. The kid was born while Burdock and crew were out on a mission- and Seylpa couldn't exactly have been giving birth on Vegetasei while killing things on Random Planet #12. The rumor arose entirely because she's the only female Sayiajin we see in proximity of Burdock.

Not really a rumor; but I first saw Dragon Ball Z on Telemundo as a kid, before I could read. So I thought that it was a Mexican cartoon with an asian theme. And then when DBZ got popular in syndication, I told everyone in Kindergarten that it was originally a Mexican show. I was confused to hell and back when I saw it on IC a few months later.

I used to think the original Saban run of the Pilaf Arc of DB was an American Cartoon.

Playing devil's advocate here, but what if they couldn't afford it then? FUNimation has been progressively growing since 1995, back when it was virtually nothing.
I built up in my mind once that Goku in GT was the son of Gohan, due to seeing some toys with the name "Gokou" on it.

Nah, it was probably an excuse. In the beginning of the dub, Saban (which is run by a billionaire) certainly could have afforded the music even if Funimation proper could not. The fact that Funimation decided to go the "hardcore modern" route with GT years later certainly doesn't help.
I used to believe Freeza was female too. Actually, since the first episodes of the Namek saga I ever saw were after Ginyu's arrival, I actually thought he was Ginyu's daughter (I guess I was just thinking "oh, they both have horns so they must be related somehow, and uh the big one looks like he's treating the small one like a spoiled brat"). I don't remember believing anything else, nor do I think I was actually told any "lies" by anyone else.

There was an interview explaining how the reason FUNi change dthe music in the first place was so that they could charge royalties every second their made up music was playing... give me a minute to find it again.

No wonder they never had scenes without music.

I think Faulconer put out some shtick about it making the show more "action packed" or something. I can't remember exactly where I heard that, though... Regardless, there's nothing more action packed than DOING HOMEWORK. OH MY GOD, HE COULD BREAK HIS PENCIL IF HE ISN'T CAREFUL.
Speaking of dub music...
"Linkin Park performed "Rock The Dragon".

Steve: Was the replacement of the soundtrack in the first two seasons a Saban decision?
Gen: The replacing of the music, was a FUNimation desicsion. With our own soundtrack, we could charge royalties for every second it's heard.
Steve: But the music itself? Who's responsible?
Gen: Oh, that was Saban. After we opted to go with our own music, we left the decision of how it was done to them.
Steve: Speaking of the soundtrack, why did you replace the Japanese opening with "Rock the Dragon?"
Gen: Well, one thing is, it's way too long. There are specific standards out there, and the simple fact is is that it just runs too long. When we chopped it up, it was very hard to get it into a fast paced opening that would catch the target audience's attention. The people we're trying to reach, American children, have a very short attention span. They flip through the channels pretty quick, and if you're show isn't flashy enough, then he's not going to stop and watch it. We felt we had to do something there to catch people's attention, so they'd watch the whole thing (the show), and see how good it is.
Steve: Is that the same reason the background music was replaced?
Gen: For the most part. In the US, audiences tend to like a more continuous BGM on animated series. It's kind of a rule of thumb to fill in gaps in the action with constant music to pace the action a little better. A big complaint a lot of people had with the Japanese music was that it took too many pauses. We used the judgement of our consultants, to make the show conform better to American music.
Steve: Were you pleased with the way Saban handled the BGM?
Gen: Well, as I said, we were strategically pleased with the replacement, but we had to change the "composer." We were not very pleased with the music for the first two seasons.
And there you go. It was changed because they wanted more money and American children are stupid. I'm so proud of them.

No, Brollys mother died giving birth to him.
Can you imagine a baby with a 10 000 power level trying to get out of you?
Yep, that would kill her.

I used to think Hercule was a badguy in Dragonball or something.
Because I had only seen a part of Z at the time and the picture that showed had him looking with an evil smirk on his face.
