The final world-wide box office gross is $52,631,508, although the money will be added more once the people buy DBE dvd. This is very sad because we were all looked forward to this. But the movie ended up very badly. Remember Fox supported Star Wars: The Clone Wars but was box-office flop. Now Fox produced DBE but ended up failing miserably too, leaving Fox with very little money. It will be difficult for Fox to produce a sequel. It will have to be another studio for a sequel.

If by flop you mean earning back eight times it's budget, then yes... yes, it was a huge box office flop.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Remember Fox supported Star Wars: The Clone Wars but was box-office flop.
And it was distributed by Warner Bros. I don't believe Fox had anything to do with it.

No. I am saying that Fox earned a low profit from these two movies.Senzu_Bean wrote:$55,604,399 actually.
Seriously, do you truly believe in this?DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:... leaving Fox with very little money. It will be difficult for Fox to produce a sequel. It will have to be another studio for a sequel.

No Fox has always help Lucas to produce Star Wars.MisterFlashdude wrote:If by flop you mean earning back eight times it's budget, then yes... yes, it was a huge box office flop.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Remember Fox supported Star Wars: The Clone Wars but was box-office flop.

Kai, I'm sorry, but - while you're right that everything else is Fox - this is WB. Fox didn't want it, probably the only smart move they've had in awhile.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:No Fox has always help Lucas to produce Star Wars.MisterFlashdude wrote:If by flop you mean earning back eight times it's budget, then yes... yes, it was a huge box office flop.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Remember Fox supported Star Wars: The Clone Wars but was box-office flop.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
This board is far too kind to this atrocity. It's a very bad movie and a very bad adaption. I don't think some fans are taking it too seriously, I think those in charge of the film didn't take it seriously enough. I personally don't want to see anything else improved upon the first movie because I would rather see a live-action film verison of the manga. Or at least something in the realm of coming close to that. I mean this movie was very far removed from anything that actually felt "dragon ball" to me.Dayspring wrote:You're assuming that it A) can't have a new director, better writers, recasting, etc for the sequel, and B) it needs to be closer to the original. It's a standalone continuity. It just needs to improve on the first movie, not become a live-action film version of the manga.Zenkai Power wrote:Why would/does anyone want a sequel anyway? Do you think they're going to "get it right" with the sequel? There's nothing they did right! The whole movie is a disaster start-to-finish. It needs a new director, better writers, a bigger budget, recasting, people who care more to make it more true to the original series, etc. etc.omegacwa wrote: Uh, no. There are plenty of movies that did way worse, seriously, way worse. At least Evolution made back it's budget and then some according to most recent reports. Some movies never recoup their budget, and some make almost no money at all.
I'm not making any assumptions, I was saying what "I" thought they would need to do to make a worthwhile DB flick.
Well, if it means anything, I saw Wolverine at an early showing yesterday and it was not good, not good at all. It's special effects were actually worse than DB:E. I didn't hate the movie, but it definitely felt rushed and just plain weird. Like I was watching something I wasn't supposed to see or something. It's hard to put it into words. And they botched Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds was great for Wade Wilson but had less screen time than Piccolo. and then when he is "THE DEADPOOL" They passingly say it's Wade, but it's not even Ryan Reynolds anymore. A scene after the credits shows some promise for the character, but who knows.
About Wolverine, I'd like to mention that my local newspaper's movie-review section gave it the same number of stars (two) as it did DBE.
I haven't seen Wolverine though, so I can't give an assessment of my own. Also if I do it'd be from the point of view of someone who doesn't really know much about Marvel comics to begin with. ^^;;;

I saw Wolverine as well and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a lot better than X3 and more in the lines of X2 entertainment and quality wise.
I'm not as much of an X-Men nut as I am DragonBall, so I can't judge precisely to what extent this movie's faithfulness to the source material goes, but I'd say it's a decent adaptation.
Most importantly I wanted to get that same 'X-Men feeling' from this movie as the cartoons always gave me and it didn't dissappoint me.
Before this, I also saw the leaked workprint that didn't have all the finished effects yet and I'd say even with some of the crappy looking W.I.P. effects and unedited wirework even that version was lightyears better than DBE could ever hope to be.

He's perfect at the beginning of the movie.Rod wrote:Did they mess up Deadpool, like the trailers implied? I know it's off topic but I'm really curious, he's one of my favorite comic characters
Then he becomes DUDEPEEL.

Still a fun movie though.

SPOILER
I hear the complaints about Deadpool.
It must be said though, that Stryker was forced to 'activate' Deadpool before he was completed. So it's only natural that he'd look 'unfinished'.
Details like his mouth sewn/grown shut showed me that the people working on this film paid attention to the source material.
Edit: Sorry for going off-topic.
Back on topic: I just saw DBE in HQ and full length. For everybody that said the bootleg didn't do justice to the full movie in high quality; The HQ version sucked just as much as the early shitty cam bootleg.
Granted the picture and sound quality made it a lot easier on the eyes and the full version took away some of the abrupt scene cuts that were in the shortened camrip, but other than that it was the same piece of crap in a HQ shell.
Interesting that since the horrible box office numbers none of the staff of the movie have made any public comments yet. At least not that we know of...

So maybe he'll be corrected in a sequel...right?...PleaseTenshinhan-san wrote:SPOILER

On-Topic: I think the biggest problem with the movie was trying to imitate from Spider-Man: nerdy kid with no friends wants to be normal, becomes super hero that's why, I believe, even non-fans we're turned off by the movie

Well, Wolverine did cut his head off, but they could somehow fix this for a possible sequel would it feature Deadpool once again.
