I disagree. While digital paint isn't something I really want, compared to outright cutting, it's the lesser of two evils.

For example, the edited Funimation dub of One Piece edits out Sanji's smoking, and it looks great. You'd honestly never be able to tell that he even had a cigarette originally.

Of course, also on the topic of One Piece, a lot of edits done in the 4Kids dub were downright terrible and unconvincing, so it really depends somewhat on the quality of editing too.

Yeah you have a point there. When I think digital paint my mind snaps to jiggling underwear or removed guns leaving nothing but an oddly positioned fists, but when done correctly it isn't as intrusive.
