Apologies if it's been asked before, but I've had a look around & can't find anything about it. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction here. I was listening to the R5 podcast with Mike & Meri the other day, & I heard an extended version of the DBZ recap music. You know, the music from where the narrator tells us what happened last episode while footage from previous episode/s play along with it.
Now I've heard this music before, but it struck a bit of a chord with me this time. I don't know why, & I don't care, but I was really enjoying it. What I want to know is, can anyone tell me which CD this music can be found on (I assume it would appear on quite a few DBZ soundtracks). I'd like to put it on my next CD Japan order
The music database states that this music should be on "DragonBall & DragonBall Z: Daizenshuu (5 CD Set)", but is it the extended version?

I don't think I've ever heard an extended version on the CDs. I have the Daizenshuu 5-disc set and the 3-disc Japanese BGM collection, and both have the same track, lasting about 1:14.

Even in the show itself they'll artificially "extend" the recap music by just splicing it accordingly to make up the extra time. Sometimes it's incredibly awkward, and sometimes it times out well. On CD, there's just the one "version".
As mentioned, it's on the daizenshuu five-disc set, and it's also on the recent three-disc BGM collection.

Thanks for the help. I'll order the 3 disc BGM collection...
... or not. CD Japan have it as out of print. Guess I'll have to take my chances with Ebay.

If you want the BGM extended in whatever episode you watched it, just extend it. It's not hard. You can do it with some programs. I use Nero Wave Editor, and I can extend, or cut any BGM like the editor of DB/Z/GT does. It just takes practice.

Holy crap, you're right... CDJapan doesn't have it in stock. If you want to get it new from a retailer rather than going through eBay, it looks like
Play-Asia still has it available.

One useless piece of trivia that has plagued my dreams for many a night:
In each episode of the series, when the title card fades in, we hear a funny little sound effect that goes "bee-dee-bloop, bee-dee-bloop, bee-dee-bloop," like something out of a Mario game. The CD version only plays one "bee-dee-bloop". Was this the recorded version, and for each episode's title card, they looped the sound an extra two times? Or is it only really a sound effect, and they decided to throw it in the soundtrack, but for whatever reason, only one "bee-dee-bloop"?
OH WAIT
Orrrrrr... is it another one of those dratted alternates, and all this time, the actual title card music that plays in the episodes has never been released on CD after all (a'la the DragonBall Title Card)?! Man, I HATE those alternates, they always dawn on me two eons too late!
M708A-2... ugh, gag me with a spoon.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

I can't remember, is the recap music the one in the backround of this
video? (Ignore the raping)
If it's not, which one is the one on the video, and which one is the recap

That's the second recap of DBZ. Meaning episodes 200-291. The first one we are talking about in here is the first recap theme, which is episodes 1-199. It's this one, if you don't remember.

And Kenisu you are right, there is only one "bee dee bloop", I've known that since I first heard it like years ago, but whatever, it's not that big deal to me.

I know that. I thought there was a proper extended mix of it.

Ahh excellent. I found a copy on Japan Yahoo Auctions, but this way I don't have to go through a 3rd party to get it here.
Thanks again.

We had the exact same issue in the dub. If you listen to scenes from last week or scenes from next week they are all slightly different. Got better at editing those things as time went on...I cringe at some of the earlier ones =\

I got my copy of the CD set today. Took nearly a month between the original order & the postage, but if you're looking for this disc Play Asia can source it... eventually...
Unfortunately I discovered it in the mailbox while I was heading out to work so it's sitting on my desk looking quite nice, but I can't listen to it until I get home.
Big thanks to VegettoEX for tracking that down for me.
