The art is better anyway 94% of the time. The only anime I would want to see following just the Manga exactly would be a redone "Ultimate DBZ" Anime. Alas, not likely to happen.
I can't read the manga.

Maybe he lives in a country where the manga isn't published? I have that problem with the anime, but I just solve it by getting the american DVDs.

Assuming he can read English, he could do the same as you do. Buy the American release, only in his case it would be the manga, which is always "region free".

There's no reason why anyone is unable to read the manga if they want to.

Maybe he's too young to purchase items like that from another continent.

Or maybe his eyes suck something major. ^^.
And... umm... to keep this post on topic...
I doubt a filler-free version of the entire series would do well, but maybe "special editions" or something of certain bits (like the ever mentioned Freeza fight) could get some attention.

If your eyes suck, that effects watching the anime and even posting on this board. In fact, everything that entails allowing you to post here also means you should be fully capable of reading the manga, the way I understand it...

Please, tell me how. I will be forever indebted.
And on a sidenote... when I first got into the show I could see well enough to tell what was going on, heck I even made an actionfigure movie... but not well enough to read subtitles or comics or anything. Heck... when it started getting worse, I used Final Bout and UB22 as a measure of how much my vision was declining...
The computer will speak text... and that is all. (See my lengthy rant on verification codes).

... I feel that I'm being a bit of a jerk by continuing this, so... umm... I have no idea of how to get back on topic.

No, I'm the one who's a jerk. I assumed that the reason you couldn't read the manga was something trivial, which would make it "I won't read the manga".

You have my apologies. I'm to blame for the off-topic posts, and I'm very sorry.

Then I honestly commend you for having the patience to use a computer under such circumstances, and have nothing further to say what would do anyone any good.

Some filler being gone would involve redrawing parts of the show. When they wished everyone off Namek, Gohan, Bulma, Vegeta and Piccolo were all in different places in the anime than they were in the manga. If I recall, in the manga, Gohan never got to take Piccolo over to Bulma, and Vegeta was just revived, kinda looks around feeling confused, and was suddenly warped to Earth.

I would personally love it Toei made a new series, GT-movie style, that instead encompasses Dragonball and Z in like 100 episodes. Recreate the series closer to the manga, with fancy computer animation. Add some filler where it seems appropriate (more dramatic scenes). It would be so easy for Toei to do as well, seeing as how DB is still hugely popular all over the world, AND it would be much easier than starting a brand new anime since the story already exists.

I apologize for the necro-post, but it's relevant.

Sadly I haven't been keeping up with the DragonBall world these days. Just a few minutes ago I heard about the Kai series here on Daizenshuu EX and I remembered this post I made a while back.

I didn't know Toei visited these forums. ;)

I was about to construct a reply that was rather critical of the sentiments expressed in this topic... and then I realized they were all 2 years old. Awesome.

For the record, I'd be in favor of such a DVD feature if it were executed well enough. I think it's a pretty neat concept that would put the power of preference in the hands of the viewer in a very convenient and intuitive way. Whether you like the filler or not, and whether the masses subjectively consider it acceptable or not, it's always nice to be able to make that choice yourself; a marathon mode like described would be a great way to do that without having to fast forward every 3 seconds.

This reminds me how neat it might be to make some sort of re-release of the original Dragon Ball Z which uses this exact method of content filtering in order to emulate the filler cuts made in Kai. Turn it on, and you have the original footage progressing just like Kai was, with defined "filler" removed; keep it off, and you have the series as it originally was. Maybe sort of trivial in the minds of the majority, but I think it could be pretty neat. :)

You mean, like, BUY Dragon Ball Z and fast-forward through filler?

I wouldn't rather have that, because it's already here. You can't rather have something you've already got.

Plus, even if Kai doesn't remove all fillers, it's close to it.

To make the series go by faster and more like the Manga.
Ang getting rid of crappy storyline.

I don't really see the point, in that feature, you could just fast forward or watch Kai, if you're not pissed about the music changing or he censoring, which so far the only bad one has been Goku's hole

Yay manga purism!
