Unbelievable prices
Unbelievable prices
I haven't looked at the Funimation releases of DragonBall two disc sets prices, since I purchased the Madman fatpacks a year ago, as I was going through my recommendations on Amazon.co.uk. I came across the Red Ribbon Army sets (This covers the early Red Ribbon arc up to just before General Blue) and the minimum price for that was £213.35 for 17 episodes and for the Tournament Saga sets, (This covers the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai and the training before that) £283.49 for 15 episodes!
I appreciate that these are rare but for over £200, really?
EDIT: One buyer is selling the Red Ribbon for over £600!

I saw this topic, and I wanted to point out some reasonable prices for the complete DragonBall Region 1 releases of the series - if you happen to live in the eastern PA/western NJ area. There's a fairly large mall in Whitehall, PA (which, for those in the area, is near Allentown) called the Lehigh Valley Mall. There is a Suncoast in that mall that has a copy in apparently excellent condition of every DragonBall season set, including the edited Saga of Goku right up through Piccolo Jr. Part 2. The Saga of Goku set is about $8, and the rest of the sets were $21.99/each.
I know this isn't as universally applicable as an online price would be, but if you're in this area and wanted to pick those sets up, they were all there as of yesterday, along with a good number of the Z- and GT-series singles.

In the UK, the manga and the video games are available to get yet there are no DVDs, except for 3 badly dubbed movies (DBZ 2,3 and 4). Manga entertainment tried to get the rights but they couldn't afford it.MCDaveG wrote: That is some really expensive! It's avalaible in UK that the price is in pounds??? So for me, I import everything.

You can get them quite readily on market sites such as Ebay, but watch out as most are not legitimate copies. I purchased mine off Ebay from someone in the US and they cost me just over £40 if I recall. It was a couple of years back but I'm sure they are still available on there.

Yeah, some of the Dragonball 2-disc sets are really pricey! I'm happy that I have all of them with the exception of one. That being the RED RIBBON ARMY SAGA, which I lost in a move a couple years ago. I went to replace it the other day and I was faced with $174.99 USD at Amazon! Seriously, why do these prices get so extravagant? I can see maybe $60 for rarity's sake, but close to $200!? Goddamn!
I even checked eBay. There were only two auctions: One started at $2.99 and was $80.00 last time I checked. The other was brand new with a starting bid of $90.00! I really want to fill the gap in my collection but, Christ, I don't see it happening unless I get incredibly lucky at an old video or pawn shop!

Oh man, the Lehigh Valley Mall has everything? I live a good 45 minute drive from it, but still, I'm tempted to go up there and grab them. Thanks for the tip!xzero wrote:I saw this topic, and I wanted to point out some reasonable prices for the complete DragonBall Region 1 releases of the series - if you happen to live in the eastern PA/western NJ area. Me too, I keep looking at this same thread on accident =/SSj_Rambo wrote:Arg, I was hoping this was about unbelievably low prices!
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
A Dragon Box has more episodes than Funimation's Box sets so i consider DBOX cheaper.Castor Troy wrote:Might as well just buy a Dragonbox.DBZGokuSaiyan wrote:I saw a 2003 FUNimation Fusion Saga Box Set on Amazon for over $650.

That's the point: more episodes, better quality, for the same price, so as Castor said, you might as well buy the DBOX.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:A Dragon Box has more episodes than Funimation's Box sets so i consider DBOX cheaper.Castor Troy wrote:Might as well just buy a Dragonbox.DBZGokuSaiyan wrote:I saw a 2003 FUNimation Fusion Saga Box Set on Amazon for over $650.
