DragonBall: Raging Blast (PS3/360)
Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 had tons of characters, like 40+. When the series made the jump to PS3 the roster was very noticeably shrunk down.SSJmole wrote:SonGokuGT wrote:If this is truly a Sparking/Tenkaichi title, I really hope that they don't pull the same type of shit they did with Naruto Narutimate/Ultimate Ninja series.
What's that? Sorry to ask but do not like Naruto so I don't pay attendion to games.

That works the same way Burst Limit came after Budokai 3, far limited character roster. Yes, the jump to the next gen is gonna slow this stuff down considering the time it takes to model, rig, and animate these characters takes much more time. The only thing that can change that is longer production time, but with the current economy, businesses want their investment money back A.S.A.P. Ergo, don't take long making it, just get it "finished" and bring us in the dough.SonGokuGT wrote:Naruto Ultimate Ninja 3 had tons of characters, like 40+. I'm quite happy that this next iteration didn't come out this year and they are waiting a bit. And the news of the Fall 2009 isn't all that bad. This may indeed be released Fall 2009, but that doesn't have to mean September. They have all the way up to the day before the Winter Solstice before its Winter 2009. Just wanted to point that out, but if there is an exact release date, I withdraw those statements.

Honestly I'd like a smaller roster. Do we really need Frieza's soilders? Was Cui such an important character to have? Did anyone really play as Babidi when you weren't joking?
See the second I heard it was another Tenkaichi my enthusiasm faded. If gameplay was to improve or a better Storymode maybe a bigger better version of Dragon Universe from Budokai 3. Or maybe new improved modes then I'd be more than happy to loose at least 20-30% of the roster

I honestly forgot Babidi was a playable character.

If they're going to release more of these, "simulate any battle you want with all your favorite characters!"-type games, they should really divide them up by series. Give us a DragonBall fighter with all the Tenkaichi Budokai contestants, Dr. Slump cameos, and major RRA fighters, a Z game with... well, pretty much most of BT3's roster, and a GT game that includes the colorful and varied folks from across the universe, and all the Shadow Dragons.

I disagree. Not only is it a low amount for this series, but it would result in some huge gaps.JAPPO wrote:40 characters is more than enough.
Either you don't have all the androids, all the Frieza henchmen/Ginyu Force, the forms of Buu, and some villains with missing henchmen. Budokai 3 was like that, and it didn't feel like a complete series.
As I've said before, if you want minimal characters that play completely different from one another, go fucking play Street Fighter.

Sometimes I feel as though people expect the wrong things from Sparking. I mean, you don't play any current Spiderman games expecting to be able to jack cars, even though it takes place in an open world like Grand Theft Auto. Sparking has a different take on the fighting genre. Where the emphasis isn't placed on direct combo memorization or mastering of different move sets; rather timing and combinations of smaller combos. It's almost like a rhythm game in that respect.
And each character is capable of massive combos that can not be replicated by other characters. This is with the inclusion of character specific offensive and defensive specials, as well as team combinations. You can switch out characters and carry on a combo started by a different character (if you time it appropriately).

Or, they could quite easily keep them all in one game to save both you and them lots and lots of money.SSj Kaboom wrote:If they're going to release more of these, "simulate any battle you want with all your favorite characters!"-type games, they should really divide them up by series. I'm not ready for this.

I like the fact that the Sparking! series does hav all of these characters. It gives me hope for the story mode to be better represented.
Plus, no one said that you had to play as all of the characters. I've noticed that with these kinds of games, and especially with the series where the actual fighting wasn't all that different in the anime, that most of the character do end up being the same. As long as there are a decent ammout of characters that are fun to play with, it doesn't matter much to me.
The one thing, THE ONLY THING, I need them to do is replace the need of having multiple versions of some characters by allowing us to customize them. I can see having different versions based on Original, Z, and GT but we don't need five Gokus and six Vegetas.
The also need a Learned Ability option from Super DBZ and a Create a Character (even if this may lead to bad Fan Fic characters).

I'd much rather pay for and have three separate games with their own diverse rosters and unique gameplay styles than one overstuffed single game with way too many characters (minus a lot of the lesser-known but really cool ones) that all play alike.DominatorLost wrote:Or, they could quite easily keep them all in one game to save both you and them lots and lots of money.

Your response makes absolutely no sense. Why dismiss this opinion, but pander to others? Furthermore, why is someone's opinion getting dismissed, but no-one's called you out to explain why exactly it's necessary to have all of Ginyu-Tokusentai playable, or all of the Jinzoningen, or all of the rest of Freeza's henchman. You said it "didn't feel like a complete series"... but how does that affect gameplay, the same way that others have brought up and you dismissed?Thanos wrote:Yes, because having as many characters as there are harms you physically.SSJmole wrote:Honestly I'd like a smaller roster.
