Image Training
Does image training increase your battle power? In my opinion, no.
I think image training only hones your skill and mental ability rather than physical strength, since you're not doing any physical exercise. It's similar to meditation, how it doesn't increase your battle power, but rather gives you more understanding of how to use your abilities more effectively.
Any thoughts?

I agree, but my opinion is little different in a way, that if you are mentally training to master your abilities and actual battle power, the battle power can go higher because you already mastered your limits.....
In DB world, warriors don't have some actual battle power, they can change it in order to use it, but they have maximum limit..... So if they master the power to the max, they can increase that power, but not that much as by physical training.....
That's my opinion

Strength in Dragon Ball mostly seems to come from the size of your ki, especially later on. Mr Toriyama even said something like this in one of the SEG interviews.
Since ki is, at least partially, a mental/spiritual energy, then meditation might do more than just focus it. As the Professor said, it was also used when they were trying to go beyond the Super Saiyajin wall, and came up with Grade 2 and Grade 3. The guide said something about visualizing the power, creating it or finding it within yourself and drawing it out, then training further to use it. That's the impression I got from what it said, anyway.

Saiyan Saga
Gohan: 981
Kuririn: 1,083
Namek Saga
Gohan: 1,500
Kuririn: 1,500
Gohan can have a zenkai I guess, but being that no physical training took place for Gohan and Kuririn between getting out of the hospital and arriving on Namek, I'm going to have to say image training increases strength... not by much, though.

Speaking of image training, remember when Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan Grade 2 after sitting and image training for days in the Room of Spirit and Time? Does anyone else think that Goku might have learned how to transform into a Super Saiyan 3 after his image training in heaven before the 25th Tenkaichi-Budokai? After all, he did say that he hadn't had much time to practice that transformation.
Just a random idea I had today.

This is how I see it. Meditating to find/create/draw out more potential power, but still requiring practical training with it to learn to control the new amount and put it to use.Kendamu wrote:In the SEG it was said that the characters reached their physical peak and had to do spiritual training to raise their battle power. Image training is spiritual training. So it should increase battle power, but probably not by as much as actually practicing techniques.
Interesting theory. I don't see why he couldn't have come up with it at that moment.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:Speaking of image training, remember when Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan Grade 2 after sitting and image training for days in the Room of Spirit and Time? Gohan and Kuririn were both suppressing their powers. Also, Bulma said they'd be able to set off to Namek in 10 days with Kami-Sama's spaceship, and Kuririn said that him and Gohan would only spend 3 days in the hospital, so I assumed that Kuririn could've trained in the 7 days he was out of the hospital (Gohan, less likely to have). I don't believe Gohan got a zenkai, he was badly injured, but after waking up from the Oozaru incident, he was able to talk fine and was able to move freely, and if you compare it to other zenkais in the series, Gohan wasn't nearly as injured as Vegeta post Zarbon's beating or Goku post Vegeta fight.teotihuacan wrote:Saiyan Saga

However, now I do think image training increase battle power, albeit not by too much.
