Best dub Kid Goku voice actress?
Who is the best voice actress of Kid Goku from the dub?
Ocean's Saffron Henderson?
FUNimation's Stephanie Nadolny from the series?
Or FUNimation's Ceyli Delgadillo from movies 2 & 3?
---------------
My personal choice is Ceyli Delgadillo. DB Movie 3 is the first thing from the dub that I've ever watched, and I really liked Goku's voice from it.
Ceyli Delgadillo sounded natural, not forsed, and it really fitted Goku's personality and age.
Saffron Henderson sounded good for me, I liked it, but not as much as Delgadillo.
As for Stephanie Nadolny... I don't like it...!! It feels to me like a grown-up lady who forces herself to copy a voice of a kid way too hard, and her grunts annoys the hell out of me.

I liked both Saffron Henderson & Stephanie Nadolny, but I like Nadolny more. Much more character and emotion and effort put into her Goku above all of the others. I didn't like Ceyli Delgadillo. Along with sounding EXACTLY like Dende, her voice was too soft. You couldn't believe this kid would grow up to have the loud hard sounding voice of adult Goku.

I enjoy Stephanie Nadolny's Kid Goku the most. Way back when she was doing Gohan, that was when I could really agree with many people that she has such a raspy voice for those type of characters but all of that disappeared when she started getting used to playing Goku. It turned into a much more playful and joyful type of voice and she can play out Goku's emotions nicely whether he's angry, sad, happy, etc.
I really don't like the other dub voices for him, although he looks quite young, I'd rather Goku have that type of voice Stephanie gives him considering he's in his teen years for most of the sagas before the 23rd Budokai and the other English voices don't really suit those ages considering they sound way more higher, making him less intimidating to boot. Nadolny gives him a convincing voice that suits both his looks and his age.

Wow. How is it possible that the Ocean Group went from being amazing when dubbing the Saiyan and Namek Sagas, to being such absolute garbage? Roshi sounds terrible. The music is terrible. Child Goku in this scene sounds disgustingly bad. Where did they go wrong? ANYWAY.
I really like Saffron Henderson, but Stephanie Nadolny voiced the character now from beginning to end, which probably is the reason I like her work. She made the distinction between Gohan and Goku, which is good, since in the Japanese version we have Gohan, Goten, and Goku sounding the same as kids and as adults. So I think it's nice that there's a bit of a voice difference in the series. Sometimes Nadolny's Goku was hard to stand, but at other times, she was great. Really choking up moments where Goku was laughing a lot or crying, she pulled it off well. As for Delgadillo, REALLY? I think she had the worst Goku of them all! Her Goku wounded like Nadolny got hit in the throat by a baseball bat. I'm sure she's good at other things, but voicing Goku just was not one of them.

That's disgusting. The Time Traveller wrote:He's more of an actor than an Actress, but Peter Kelamis also played Kid Goku.
Anyway, Nadolny is my favourite. I never actually considered her Goku to be raspy, compared to her Gohan anyway. I mean, if you play Infinite World, she seems to have changed her Goku voice a bit; it's quite a bit higher, with the "raspyness" gone.
I've really grown a liking for Stephanie Nadolny's Goku.

Zoe Slusar (The Blue Water voice for Goku) was great though, in my opinion.

Stephanie Nadolny is... all right. I think she's better as Goku than Gohan somehow, even though the voice is practically the same. Zoe Slusar's all right too, but that may be because I enjoyed her in G Gundam as Sai Saici.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I never liked Stephanie even when I was a dub fan, but there was one section of Dragon Ball where I remember her doing a great job - during the episodes immediately following the first Piccolo Daimao fight, where Yajirobe brings Goku to Korin Tower. It's been about six years since that arc's initial run on Cartoon Network, but I remember her weakened voice as being so much more genuine, natural, and easy on the ears.
Yeah, I couldn't stand hger as Gohan during the Frieza and Android sagas. It was the Cell saga when she stopped getting as raspy. But ever since Movie 5, her Gohan's been perfect.B wrote:Stephanie Nadolny, definately.
Her Gohan, though, is a mixed bag. Listening to it now, it's kind of grating and annoying. That may be the FUNi script or Gohan being a genuinely annoying character, I don't know.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!
