Regarding this scene, I remember seeing her boobs in the manga, but definitely not in the anime. I think you're wrong on this one. Roshi's head is blocking them, or it makes a quick shot to her behind, or something.Levlik wrote:There's only one time in the series where you can actually see everything: the invisible man fight. I haven't really seen much of the Dragon Ball anime, so I'm not sure: Do they actually show Bulma's breasts in those parts?

Fake widescreen. If you don't have a zoom button on your DVD, congrats: you can now access Z1 through the menuscreen. To my knowledge, only Bardock and Trunks had this craptacular "feature."Tanooki Kuribo wrote:But it's widescreen...This is just leftovers of the DVDs released prior to the two-packs.

Nah, they're there, but like I said, only for like two frames at most. It's incredibly hard to notice.Smooth Criminal wrote:Regarding this scene, I remember seeing her boobs in the manga, but definitely not in the anime. I think you're wrong on this one. Wow, they look NOTHING like they do in the manga counterpart, if my memory serves me correctly.Levlik wrote:Nah, they're there, but like I said, only for like two frames at most. In the manga they're stationary, here there is only a couple of short frames of them "animating."Smooth Criminal wrote:Wow, they look NOTHING like they do in the manga counterpart, if my memory serves me correctly.Levlik wrote:Nah, they're there, but like I said, only for like two frames at most. My guess is that they knew it was going to be a quick low-frame animation, so they just drew them quickly and didn't care? Or maybe censorship? Either way, the frame in general looks pretty bad, even Bulma aside... Look at Krillin!Smooth Criminal wrote:What I meant was... Very simple Google search of "Bulma Manga" turns up this as the first result!

I can't find anything on the Funimation website to support this, Wouldn't Funi be the first to tell the world and not Walmart? I really hope this is happening... Do you think they will be digitally remastered like the Z sets?
News just up... The Walmart site and link are downnnnn.

For what it's worth, the Official FUNi Rep saw the thread on the FUNimation Forums dedicated to this. He didn't say anything, but you'd think he would have popped in and debunked this whole thing if it were false. Maybe his silence on the issue means something good. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up or anything, but it is something to consider.
Of course, maybe he's just waiting for permission from FUNi to return, debunk the rumor, and crush our hopes yet again. Who knows?

He's saying that if you don't have the zoom feature on your DVD remote, then there is a feature that will zoom into the movie (Z1=zoom 1). This is essentially what the orange bricks are, anyway. It keeps the width the same, but cuts of a portion of the top and bottom to fit onto a 16:9 screen.

Most DVDs can zoom in a few times on the picture. Z1 is the first zoom level, to Z3 or more depending on the player. The older Bardock and Trunks DVDs had a widescreen feature, but all they actually did was activate Z1; not switch from fullscreen to widescreen. Since this wasn't actually widescreen, no other DBZ DVD (to my knowledge) had or advertised this feature. Since Wal-mart is selling them at less than $10 US, it's probably leftovers from the initial release of the old DVDs.jjgp1112 wrote:I'm interested in seeing what he's talking about too. So does it actually have the fullscreen, uncropped picture, or is it letterboxed, and it just zooms in to avoid the black bars?Dayspring wrote:Most DVDs can zoom in a few times on the picture. (Excuse the images... shitty MJPEG of movie 7 sitting around from an old video project)
I don't understand this conversation at all. FUNimation's "double feature" DVDs (not to mention the R2s) are all anamorphic widescreen. If you're playing on a 16:9 display, it should should automatically fill up the entire display.

If you're playing on a 4:3 display, it should automatically letterbox (via playback software) to 16:9 with black bars on the top and bottom to keep the correct aspect ratio and still fill the screen with something.

The only instance in which you'd probably want to "zoom" in on a widescreen video on a 16:9 display to fill the entire screen is if the video was hard-coded WITH black bars in a non-anamorphic 4:3 encode (which, as far as I know, isn't the case here at all).

If the first two aren't the case with your DVD player and your DVDs (the third case is not and should not be an issue... it was only provided for completeness)... you have something set up wrong.

Letterbox zoomed in. EDIT: On 4:3! On 16:9 it must look even worse, as it has no black bars.Taku128 wrote:So does it actually have the fullscreen, uncropped picture, or is it letterboxed, and it just zooms in to avoid the black bars?Dayspring wrote:Most DVDs can zoom in a few times on the picture. That + EX's explanation explain why it was an absolutely useless feature. If the letterbox pissed the viewer off enough to want to zoom in, it's a HELL of a lot easier to just push the zoom button on your remote than to navigate the menu. I don't have any series DVDs from yesteryear, but none of my movie singles had this nonsense as an option.
