Hm...weird. It says the Japanese track is 5.1 there, but I think that's a typo. Can someone confirm?

I checked the original Broli Double Feature Blu-ray and the PS3 says it's DTS Mono... :?

I own the old Funi dvds (non steel book) as well as some of the blu-ray releases, and it's my opinion that blu-ray is significantly better. But of course it's been stated many times before that the old Funi dvds are pretty much crap. Comparing the 2, the blu-ray is clearer, the colors are more accurate (but still not right), and it's just an overall better watching experience.

However, I did DL a few Dragon Box rips and I gotta say they are indeed worth the money. The picture quality is top notch (despite being a rip and probably suffering some compression) and the colors are amazing (way better than blu-ray). If you got the money, the Dragon Box is definitely the way to go.

I ain't no video expert or anything, I just know what I like. My opinion is based on my setup. I have a 52" Samsung 1080p at 120 Hz. That's about as technical as I can get.

My Bottom Line: Dragon Box > Funi Blu-ray > Funi DVD

I know I kind of took a few steps back and let everyone else talk after my question was answered. ^_^; heh heh...

But anywho, thanks everyone for the answers! *sigh* Looks like I'm gonna re-buy my DBZ steel books in Blu-Ray.

Disclaimer: I only asked because I recently bought a Blu-Ray player and have so far just been re-buying movies I own. With th exception of WALL-E, I re-bought Underworld & X-Men trilogies and I think they all look great and was curious if an older anime like Dragon Ball Z looked nice since I saw Tree of Might/Lord Slug on Blu-Ray at Wal-Mart. With Dragon Ball/Z/GT being my favorite anime, I want to watch it with a glazed over look muttering, "preeeeetty."

There's something vaguely poetic about that... :P

So I guess I'm re-sparking the discussion, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this;

http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Z-Sea ... B001FSKDVC

If you go to that link, it shows Amazon has a listing for Dragon Ball Z Season 1 in Blu-Ray. Has anyone heard any news that FUNimation is re-releasing the seasons in Blu-Ray or is this probably one of those things where a market website jumps the gun and posts a bogus listing based on rumors?

Neither, actually. Notice you can't order the set, you can only sign up to be notified when a release is announced. Amazon does this all the time, nothing wrong or shady about it.

I pity the two people waiting and hoping in vain for the announcement of the Star Wars Holiday Special.

I paid 40 dollars for my remastered holiday special, to be rewarded only with pain and melted eye sockets.

Why would you pay for it? You can find it free online. Most fans distribute it for free because of how "awesome" it is.

Anyway, the commercials they added as bonus features were awesome! The kid with the wampas had my friends and I laughing. WAMPA!

But, Bea Arthur singing was the best thing ever!

Because it was the best version out there with a remaster job, though it made no difference of the content.

First off, if you downloaded rips, how can you say they're worth the money? Also, most of the Dragonbox rips also do not represent the actual colors of the Dragonboxes. This is a fact I've observed after comparing.

I mean they would be worth the money to purchase. My bad. And like the said, I know the rips aren't perfect but even then I could tell they looked better overall compared to the blu-rays. I don't know the quality of the rips you were watching but I ones I saw were extremely HQ.
