It could. I doubt Funi is sure that Dragonball will sell without support. They know they don't need us for Z though.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Well not doing anything won't work either so...

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

...Would it hurt to try? It's better to actually try to accomplish something that, despite your efforts doesn't create the outcome you desire, than to have not tried and end up regretting it down the road.

Sending an e-mail is not hard, it's super fast, and takes absolutely no energy at all. Even if it's a 0.1% chance that FUNi will just consider our request, it's worth sending one e-mail.

First of all, I could care less about the darn widescreen. Secondly, I don't care if Funi lied to us as long as I'm going to own all episodes of DBZ in considerably cheaper price. Why do you all care about the widescreen...? It's just widescreen. If you have HDTV, you wont be seeing black bars. It's like 4:3 screen. Why do you guys make such a big deal out of this? Would you prefer to have Funi hire horrible VAs saying it's "the way it was meant to be heard."

People care about the widescreen issue because it isn't widescreen, it's chopping off the top and bottom from the original 4:3 picture.

I have no interest in these sets if they are widescreen, if FUNimation do a nice new encode in 4:3, I wouldn't hesitate to pick them up, especially considering some of the bitrate issues with the original releases.

And people don't care about Dragon Box the Movies? They have 4:3 being cropped into 16:3.

You are missing the point though, the movies were animated in a way that 16:9 would be a beneficial way of watching them. Even when cropped, you will not be missing anything worthwhile. What FUNimation did with the DBZ Seasonal sets was the complete opposite. They CROPPED what was NOT supposed to be cropped.

Well, here's hope for you Season set haters. Funimation might release Blu Ray season sets in 4:3 screen. Unless Funi happily crushes your dream.

So we can bitch even more about their "remastering", this time in HD? I think I'll be sticking with my Dragon Box sets instead. I bought the high-def releases of the movies just for the hell of it, I have well over 200 Blu rays, why not add some DBZ in there!

Where does it say that?
I think he meant as a FUNi 2-disc like what Madman released in Australia and New Zealand.
Where does it say this "Season 1" is not going to have the first 13 episodes? I know it's unlikely, but this kid is going off "IS ANYONE ELSE PISSED THEY WONT BE DOIN IT DFSKJDF" and it's unsettling.

People care about the widescreen issue because they are butthurt about two inches of striking imagery being carelessly chopped off. That's why!

How would you feel if the top and bottom of the Citizen Kane were chopped off, huh? Then, we'd only get 80% of the amount of Orson Welles' head that was intended! We'd only have 80% of the story! We'd only have 80% of the drama!

Add it all up and we only have 80% Dragonball! THAT'S BULLSHIT. UGH.

I could care less about widescreen, too. Thanks to these sets, I now have every piece of Dragon Ball Z animation ever. All I need to do is get GT Season 2 some time this year and I'll have all of GT. Then, all I need to do is get the Dragon Ball Season sets and the double features for those and I'll have the entire Dragon Ball series on DVD. Cropped picture is hardly an issue, especially since you're not even losing anything significant, especially compared to the singles. I mean, why even compare these things to the Dragon Boxes, considering their Japan-only releases and half of us won't even bother to buy them. These sets are a HUGE improvement over the singles (and the singles were already incredibly zoomed in as it is, so it's like we're losing nothing compared to those).

Really? I never knew this. I have all of DB in the DVD sets Funi released, but I never knew they were zoomed in...

Let's try to not end up with a "Dragon Box vs FUNimation Releases" conversation that's not relevant to the discussion at hand that ends up getting closed because half the people don't actually know what they're talking about. Thanks! ^_~

CORRECTION.

80% of every piece of Dragonball Z animation ever. Be sure to put quotation marks on the word "remastered" when used in the context of the Season Sets to remind everyone that you do not approve of them. You know, in case people forget.

On subject, I will NOT be getting the faux-"remastered" bricks of Dragonball. I want the goods. I want the real deal.
