Kiaoh? FUNimation (almost) used a correct name???

Kiaoh? FUNimation (almost) used a correct name???

Okay, I was bored this evening, and I picked up my movie 8 DVD. The second paragraph on the back reads:

But when Kiaoh learns of the Super Saiyan threat he begs Goku to rush to the scene of the action to take care of the problem himself. Sparks fly as Goku and Vegeta clash over who is to be the one to confront the galaxy's new menace

I didn't even notice it at first but...wow. Wonder who wrote the summary?

Strange..... Very strange... my copy says "King Kai".... but that's probably because the people at Madman Entertainment picked up on the mistake in the American summary...

I noticed that when I bought it. It only says Kaioh on the uncut version, though.

On a similar note... why the fish is Dai Kaiou's name spelled Dikaio in the dub?

I only heard them call him the "Grand Kai" in the dub. or are you referring to the grand Kaioshin?

Dai Kaiou is the one that Buff Buu absorbed to become Fat Buu.

Original - Funimation

Kaiô-sama - King Kai

Dai Kaiô-sama - Grand Kai (not very far off)

Kaiôshin-sama - Supreme Kai

Dai Kaiôshin - sama - Dai Kaiô

I was really suprised in the dub, that Funimation had named the Grand Kaiôshin "Dai Kaiô", since that name already belonged to that other Kaiô, but oh well.

On an almost similiar note, I just learned that GT gave Kaiôshin an official name for his fusion, because the elderly Grand Kaiôshin calls him "Kibit Kaiôshin" at one point. I know this name didn't appear in DBZ, so it's exclusive to GT.

Oh yeah, Dai Kaioushin is the one that made Fat Buu, my mistake.

I'd like to note to the topic creatoy, 'Kaioh' is actually correct, because sometimes, when dealing with an 'ou' like "Kaiou-Ken", when written in romanji, they turn it to, for example, 'Kaioh-Ken'
Another example is Yugiou/Yugioh.

Yes, I understand that, but it was literally spelled "Kiaoh" on the rear of the sleeve :P

I personally spell the "ou" sound as ou, but that's just me. I guess spelling it as "oh" would make more sense when dealing with English-speaking audiences, but oh well. Anywho, it would have been stranger if FUNi named Dai Kaioushin as Grand Supreme Kai.

Kiaoh? They just made a spelling error I guess. I'll have to go find my Broly movie.
