I'd say dish out the $20 and buy the DVD, the way the Japanese version ends with "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku" almost brings a tear to your eye... but the American version just doesn't do it justice with it's [c]rap music. But it should be close, Toonami showed when Yi Shen Long absorbed the Dragonballs today. [12/12/04]
A place where Ocean beats Funi there
Oceans final ep, which has aired in the UK, used Dan Dan for the final sequence.
I find that quite odd really since Ocean don't even use Dan Dan for the intro, well they do but it's a bad sounding translation, and Funi do...

I really wish I could understand what y'all see in the Japanese music. I'm not saying I like the American begin/end themes, far from it, but what has all of you so enthralled with the Jap music?SonGokuGT wrote:I'd say dish out the $20 and buy the DVD, the way the Japanese version ends with "Dan Dan Kokoro Hikareteku" almost brings a tear to your eye... but the American version just doesn't do it justice with it's [c]rap music.[12/12/04]

For me, it's just what I grew up on. Sure, I watched the dub during the first two seasons, but beyond that, what I know is the Japanese score, and that's what I like to hear.Rocketman wrote:I really wish I could understand what y'all see in the Japanese music. The same thing goes for a lot of people who got into the dub post-Ocean. They get used to the FUNimation voices, and then when they hear the original Ocean voices, they tell me they're "crap" (which, of course, throws me into hysterics

Ocean Goku and Vegeta = awesome. haven't heard much of the other characters, though.VegettoEX wrote:The same thing goes for a lot of people who got into the dub post-Ocean. It's all in what you hear first and know the best.
Which one has the better music though?
Had to admit that was the main beef I had when CN moved over to Ocean after the Freeza Saga. I could handle the change in voices and the effects being sharpened up to full quality after the toning down of the Frieza Saga and before was most welcome.
However there were a couple of music scores I enjoyed from Funi and I just didn't think the Ocean had the same quality in some places, although if we're talking Music Quality and Funi let's just ignore GT
, and a few major events, most noticably the SSJ2 transformation, lost a bit of impact.
Just like to get a few thoughts

With the dub music it depends. They got better over time and I like what I call the "Vegeta theme" and some other music whose names I'm not quite sure of. Especially the ultra-dramatic theme that plays whenever something big goes down. Like EX, I've had a similar experience with someone not used to the old dub voices. I was watching The World's Strongest with some friends, and one buddy of mine from Tokyo who had never seen the first 2 seasons was confused over why the voices were different. After explaining it to him, he didn't really claim either version of sucking, but still.

What they said, though I did find a subbed version of the full ending once.El_Diablo wrote:GT's ending has probably aired over 10 times over here
And they cut down Goku's flashbacks but kept Dan Dan

Re: Last Episode Of GT?
I figure in about 5 or 6 weeks. They just aired the episode where Li(Syn) Shenron eats the dragonballs, which is 58 i believe? DBGT all together is 64 episodes. You do the math.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Does anyone know when the last episode of GT is going to be on Toonami? I was wondering cause I dont have that DVD yet and wanted to see it.
So yeah, I reccomend buying the dvd. Especially if you cant wait for the episode.
