In hours? Well, let's see here.

From start to end, editing wise, it can take approximately... 30 hours. That's just the editing, not including the scripting, the voicing, and so forth.

Which is exactly why I can't see a season ever going more than 10 episodes, that would just be too stressful on you guys.

Though having to skip a lot of the cool ideas they have for certain (filler) scenes, and constantly having to fit a certain pace and schedule might be the more stressful plan of action.

Well I just finally got around to completing Season 1 I must say that DragonBall Z Abridged is a work of art. I watched all 10 episodes in a row and I was laughing and crying my ass off. A child hood friend and his nephew came over and we watched them all together. By the time, the credits started to roll at the end they were on their cell phones calling everyone telling them to check it out. According to the feed back I received today the Vegeta, Nappa and later Kakarrot interaction was classic. They all said that they can not wait until Season 2. Moreover, whatever Team Four Star do they wish that they maintain the VA that voices Vegeta or the constant belittling of Kurirrin.
The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.

So, I finished the merging of the clips, I'll put the mp4 up on megaupload later. Then I'll probably create a DVD version to burn straight to DVD just for you Mew.

Gonna repost this puppy from TZ just in case any of our French-speakers want to help:
Mynd Hed/hbi2k wrote:So a Belgian gentleman by the name of ChouanB has been subtitling TFS' DBZA into French, which is very cool of him. He's got the first three episodes up, plus the Make a Man Out of You music video.

Not being a French-speaker, I have no idea how accurate his subs are, but his video quality's good and the font he uses is very readable, anyway. Nothing worse than amateurish subs that are hard on the eyes.

(Plug: I happen to know that he's also looking for English-speakers to help him out by transcribing dialog in places that are hard for a non-native English-speaker to understand, like the Goz and Mez scene in Episode 4. I don't really have the time to help him out on a regular basis, but I bet he'd be grateful if someone else were to volunteer.)

That's pretty cool. I wish I spoke French so I could help, but alas, I can't.

On a more awesome note, somebody made an AAMV (Abridged Anime Music Video) to Ghost Nappa! It isn't perfect, but it's awesome noneteless!

Yeah, I realize I'm a little late with this, but I have to say that the finale was fantastic.

I seriously almost peed my pants when I heard the Gurren Lagann BGM after Vegeta got hit with the ricochet energy blast. I'm always excited by the little random references you guys throw in... When I actually get them, that it. :P

Vegeta singing "You're the Best Around" was brilliant (can we make Vegeta singing random songs from the 80s a staple?), and I loved the little Pokemon nod when Icarus was dancing on screen.

Oh, and Ghost Nappa made me laugh out loud. I was kind of expecting something like it, but didn't want to get my hopes up. It was amazing though... And I think I may make it my ringtone. No, I definitely will make it my ringtone.

Thanks for the awesome first season, guys, and enjoy your well deserved break. I can't wait to see what you guys are going to do next season.

A certain topic in another thread has piqued my curiosity on a subject that I'd like to bring up here.

Do you think the latter half of DBZ Abridged dipped in humor/quality? As we've gone on, we've treated the show a little more seriously, though we've tried our very best to keep it funny and entertaining. We wanted to make the epic scenes epic while still supplying humor; give the fans a dynamic and original angle rather than just comedy.

I'm asking you guys, honestly, how you feel about episode 6-10.

In my opinion, I think the humor was kind of shifted around a little. But honestly, I think you did the best you could have done with what you had to work with. I'm sure the Namek saga will be as good or better as some of the early DBZ Abridged. I'm really looking forward to it.

Personally I don't care for the long drawn out serious scenes with no jokes in sight. I watch Abridged to be comically amused, if I wanted serious Dragonball I'd just go watch Dragonball y'know? I'm not saying your later episodes are awful just a lot differently paced. Those long stretches without humor really get me out of the mood, that's not saying I can't take some serious dialogue but there's a whole lot more of it in 6-10.

But I still love your work. Just like from Dragonball to DBZ. I may prefer the earlier stuff but the later more serious stuff is great too in its own way.

I think they were just fine. They shifted to be a little serious because they were serious parts.

This is Dragon Ball Z: Abridged, not Dragon Ball Z: Hilarity.

Honestly, the series hasn't lost any comedic touch. Just about everything Vegeta says is hilarious so I don't quite see how the later episodes lost any humor. The material was handled quite well and if anything, episode one is the only episode humor-wise, that fails to hold up.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Freeza's men react to Vegeta with his increased power. :D

Also...any word on a complete edit of the episode? Anyone?

Hmm... I find Nappa's Frisbee to have been the best joke in the new episodes. I disagree with the lack of humor to be honest, I mean I remember when the Arlia episode came out people said it "wasn't as funny as the last". Granted it's been awhile since I saw the early episodes, but I do like the way that the story can progress without every other line being a joke. It was a nice nod during the Goku vs. Vegeta dialogue where it felt like something lifted straight from the subs (wheter it was or not).
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
