I don't get it. If I watch Z, it has the same soundtrack every episode. How come Kai having the same soundtrack every episode is such a crime?

No. It was.
I think he meant more colorful. In original Z, there is a hint of blue. In Kai, we clearly see blue.

I think he meant the entire thing. Usually people say, "Oh, that's been cleaned up," rather than going, "That wasn't there at all before," if they just notice that the picture quality is better.

It is a crime when they ruin a classic moment with some unfitting music. When you watch the Z version, Piccolo's death is pretty sad with that background music, but in Kai I was only pissed.

Like I said, Z used the same soundtrack over and over, but at least they knew how to use appropriate music in certain scenes, and not put a random one.

I can try to see where you're coming from, but it's the acting in that moment that did it for me, not the music. Sure, it would've been nice to have something similar to that tragic choir stuff from Z, but I didn't even notice or care about the music in that scene. Gohan's repeated, "Please don't die!!" while he was sniffling and such was what made me sad instead of pissed there.

EDIT: Do you understand Japanese? Maybe because I was listening and trying to understand the words is why I wasn't paying attention to the music.

The acting and the music are completing each other. For example, there's a funeral scene, the acting is superb, but the music is all unfitting and happy like, that makes the scene drop the the bottom of the pit.

I do understand Japanese through experience, but I don't know how to read and write it.

Well, I would've noticed if Piccolo's death had happy music.

Now that I go back, the specific scene I was thinking of didn't even have music. The part where he actually buys the farm, though, didn't have happy unfitting music. Sure, not the tragic choir stuff, but it wasn't Dragon Soul or whatever.

EDIT: I don't think you're "wrong" to not like the Kai version, by the way. I'm just arguing that at least the music wasn't happy-go-lucky out-of-place stuff.

Yeah, I meant the whole thing; I didn't remember it in the original, and it looked pretty vibrant and cleanly drawn like a lot of the other re-animated scenes in the preview.

What do you think about the redrawn scenes shown on the 13th episode preview?

I'm speechless...
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Snapple
...Are you... fucking kidding me?!!

I've seen flash movies on Newgrounds that looked better than this shit... hell, I could do even better than this!

Why are they even bothering... I mean, when the redrawn scenes look worse, then why even bother?

Woah. 18 episode gap here.

BTW, Hujio or Herms. On Kanzentai it says Episode 12 for the countdown for Episode 13. =P

WOW, those are awful; especially the first one. They look so unofficial and fake. >_O

If they're so adamant about redrawing scenes, why don't they just actually put their all into it instead of this half-baked stuff they've come up with.
On hiatus.

I blame outsourcing. No offense to Wasted Wisher, as he's obviously a fan and it seems he cares about his work - but it also appears that many don't, so far.

Are we even sure these are 'final products'? Like Mike and crew like to point out, promotional materials never use the final animation.

'Sides, does anybody really notice these quick shots in a 30 second little promo without relying on looking for them, frame by frame?

I have a Sharingan, hence I can notice them.

Well, what do you know. The DBZ shots are just as shoddy.

And here I thought there was an issue of some sort (aside from not wanting completely redraw the frames).

There's less shading in the Kai shots. And what is up with that super-saturated bright orange on Goku's gi?
