True, and I bet you realize this, but still...

That's true too; I hope they are implying that they've rescued those first 13 episodes.
On hiatus.

DBZ Season 1 has been listed to be released on Blu-Ray for ages now. I don't think that's the best source for a definitive listing.

The difference here is that there's a release date in Wal-Mart and Rightstuff for Dragon Ball's set, while DBZ Blu-Ray set doesn't have anything to say.

Yeah. They are the warehouses for Funimation and ADV. If it's listed on Right Stuf, it's 100 percent real UNLESS Funimation cancels the release.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Taking that into account, I wonder if we'd get the same copy-pasted response if we e-mailed them saying, "uh, guys, your OWN personal store is listing it now..."

(FUNi's response is read in Mark Satan's dub voice)

Probably, "It's a trick! A mistake, I mean! Uhh... we don't even know what Dragonball is! But be sure to keep your eyes peeled because pretty soon we're gonna have some BIG FUNimation news!"

"Is it related to Dragonball?"

"Uhh... What would make you think that? Ehehehe..!"

If you say so...
It really is, though. Hell, go to zstore.com. It's part of RightStuf's website. It's as close to FUNi's official store as any online retailer is going to get, and it's certainly more accurate than Amazon or Wal*Mart. RightStuf hasn't been wrong about titles in years. If they're listing it, this is pretty much confirmed unless stated otherwise.

Anyway, now that they're announced...

*giddy girlish squee sounds*

Finally, this dark chapter in DragonBall history has come to an end. They finally have the distribution rights. RightStuf is never wrong about these things, so this is all the proof I need. Still not sure why FUNi tried so desperately to hide the fact that it was real. Oh well. The award for "worst kept secret by an anime company in 2009" goes to FUNimation.

The fact that I know the coverart is real now makes me even more happy. I LOVE that cover. Now that I think about it, I really don't think the design for the bricks is all that bad. The blue works so well; I guess all these boxes needed was a proper color. I don't know about the rest of you, but it makes a world of difference in my eyes.

And it's got an official release date on there, with a pre-order button.

I'm in shock. It's really, real!

Edit: In fact, I kind of want to check out my local wal mart and see if they have any of those Saga of Goku (or whatever) sets from kidmark. Our local wally world used to have a crap load of them, and I've never actually seen it before.

Right Stuf having it confirms it to me. I'll usually order from there, so I'll be sure to order it soon.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Fixed that for ya.

Seriously not to hammer a point here folks, but I honestly think this is potentially a WAY bigger issue than even the widescreen. Even if this thing winds up being fullscreen, it'd be completely meaningless and moot if the picture wound up looking even worse than the Season 2 and 3 sets... which again it very well might due to the age of the show in question here, coupled with the cheapskate, careless methods FUNimation uses to "remaster" these things.
I'm assuming that FUNi got the majority of the series after Dragonball Z became a smash hit on CN. Hopefully they used some of that money to get cleaner Dragonball reels than their first DBZ reels. Also, hopefully they learned from their Season 2 mistake as more stuff got remastered. I mean, Season 1 wasn't all that bad 'cept for the disappearing lines and sometimes odd frame cuts.

I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic about this one and wait until I see some actual footage before I decide whether to buy or pass on it. I'm not to naive as to get my hopes completely up and then get extremely pissed, though.

Hmm, this does seem to make it's chances all the higher. I feel this has a great chance of coming out now. I got my Dad into Dragonball a couple of years ago, and was forced to start with Z.

He really wants to see the original, and hopefully it will be through these sets!

Hmm, this is rated 14+ according to Rightstuf. Must be this is getting a TV-14 rating, which is weird since Blue Gender only got a TV-PG even though it had actual sex scenes. But then again One Piece got a TV-14 so must be FUNi is becoming stricter in what's allowed in each rating.
GT is underrated and the International Channel will always be my favorite channel for foreign programming. I still miss it.

...but is it really that big of a deal? I've seen people going on and on about it. I don't see any problem with the widescreen. We aren't missing hardly anything but a few cowlicks and blades of grass. Is there some deeper meaning I'm not getting? :?
