To bring something new to the table, what do you guys think this means for the movies? Whether they're what FUNi's August announcement is or not, we know they're going to do them eventually. With the series in fullscreen, does that mean the movies will be kept in fullscreen as well? That really is a release that FUNimation cannot screw up regardless of aspect ratio. Just like the DBZ films, it's a FUNi-proof product*, ratio-wise.
I'd actually prefer them in fullscreen, to be honest. I won't care if they're cropped, but as far as I know, none of the Dragon Ball movies have any of the issues that DBZ movie three had where they didn't finish the cels in the sections that were supposed to be cropped, so getting the full picture won't be a bad thing in this case.
*Waits for tons of "nothing's FUNi-proof lol ha ha" responses.

I do so hope that FUNimation gives the DB movies some special treatment along with the series.
For one, a few of them could use new dubs.
Also, giving the video the same magic touch that the Z movies got, especially a sexy new progressive encode and better colors, would be greatly appreciated. And last but not least, I'm pretty sure that like the Z movies, the DB movies were animated with the intent for cropping into widescreen. I'm pretty sure I've noticed some spots where this is obvious in the animation. So if such is the case, then by all means, FUNi, chop it down.

Maybe the Funi rep said it will be in widescreen because he knows of this forum, had some feeling the person who asked was a part of it, and just was dying to read all the nasty comments about this rumor. It didn't bother me that DBZ was cropped, but DB is zoomed in way too much, and is not even watchable in widescreen. I've stretched out the show myself on DVD, and every shot was obviously far more made for 4:3.
DBZ for some reason looks good, and at some times really bad in 16:9. If they do crop DB, I will have to step down and bitch with all of you as well, yet they will still make money off me. I want the entire series, I'm buying it. So glad I never bought those Madman releases other than the Goku Saga.

I'll buy that Saga of Goku set from you. How much you want?ultimateemail5000 wrote:Maybe the Funi rep said it will be in widescreen because he knows of this forum, had some feeling the person who asked was a part of it, and just was dying to read all the nasty comments about this rumor. The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Not that I'd probably ever watch them, but I'd like to go on record as saying I'd prefer the opposite... have the original DB movie 3 dub cast re-do the other movies

I'd actually agree with this. Nadolny's "child" voice always grated on me. Made me think that Goku/Gohan had gargled with gravel before each take.VegettoEX wrote:Not that I'd probably ever watch them, but I'd like to go on record as saying I'd prefer the opposite... have the original DB movie 3 dub cast re-do the other movies.

Oh no when I said "appropriate" I meant like replacing the really old voices Goku and Bulma had for instance when FUNi first moved production to Texas. The ones that don't even work for the company anymore.VegettoEX wrote:Not that I'd probably ever watch them, but I'd like to go on record as saying I'd prefer the opposite... have the original DB movie 3 dub cast re-do the other movies.
I still miss Saffron from time to time tho'.

God, these sets better be Fullscreen, or else I am PISSED.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

I don't see why FUNimation would have a trailer in 4:3 but put the show in 16:9. DBZ had 16:9 trailers and the show was 16:9 on DVD. DBGT has a 4:3 trailer and the show was 4:3 on DVD. DB has a 4:3 trailer (not to mention the note of "4:3" in the press release). I'm assuming that it'll be 4:3 on DVD even if some rep at a con said otherwise.
I don't know why everyone is so worried.

No, no, no, no, no, Mark Britten (Gyu-Mao, Oolong) and Dale Kelly (Butta, Random Bystanders) were fired from FUNi shortly after Season Three; Mark Britten voiced Karin before their roles were recast for the rest of the dub and the video games.RoarkVegeta wrote:I am? There hasn't been, and if the five disc thing is true, I highly doubt they'll throw it in the first season. The GT TV special was thrown in the last set, so I wouldn't be surprised if they either plan on throwing DB movie one in the last set, or not at all.ssjcj wrote:Has there been any word about DB Movie 1 coming out yet? Please be true. Then I can finally have the entire series on DVD.
