I hope, if they do, redub movies 2 & 3, they don't redub the characters that don't need it, like Tao. When Tao does the Dodonpa for the first time in Movie 3 it sounds like he actually says "Dodonpa" instead of "Dodon Ray."

What's wrong with Dodon Ray? Someone more knowledgeable should feel free to step in and correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I that Dodon Ray was an approximate translation of Dodonpa.

Dodonpa = Kaboom Wave

And yes, it was "Dodonpa" the first time Tao used it

It would be interesting to know if Funimation does indeed reissue movies 2-4 remastered in widescreen along with the first one like for the Z movies. Then again the entirety of Z was remastered in widescreen unlike the 4:3 dragonball so we have to wait and see. :P Here is hoping they decide to release the DB movies in singles because its the only one that I need to have all the DB movies.

Was 16:9 the native format to the DragonBall movies (like it was with the Z movies)? I want to say that it was, but I'm not entirely sure.

I would think most theatrical films since the conception of the silver screen, as we know it, that all movies are natively in 16:9.

Actually most movies these days are 21:9... *patooy*

Nothing's wrong with it, it's just cool to hear the character shout the original name. Kind of like how Schemmel pronounces "Kaio-ken" correctly in Burst Limit.

I honestly want every character redubbed and every line rewritten. Even Tao Pai Pai, the best sounding character in the dub of movie three (Kent Williams FTW), doesn't sound quite like how he does in the series. Every single thing that comes out of Arale's mouth needs to be rewritten by somebody and redubbed by Brina Palencia. I refuse to watch the dub if Arale STILL calls Goku a "stud."

Yeah, I've always wondered why Tao has such a great, calm and intimidating voice in movie 3 but in the series he sounds very...I dunno, nasally.

There hasn't been, and if the five disc thing is true, I highly doubt they'll throw it in the first season. The GT TV special was thrown in the last set, so I wouldn't be surprised if they either plan on throwing DB movie one in the last set, or not at all.
Or you know, they could do two double features since there are four DB movies.

To answer your question, yes they were in 16:9 because I have the Japansese version of DB movie 1.
Aka gtadbzman.

No double-feature  , I only need the first movie of DB to own all the features.

Well, a more correct translation would be wave.

For some reason, in the video games, Tao Pai Pai's doesn't have the 'Dodon Ray', he has a 'Dodonpa'. Did they forget that they had named the attack?

Except for movies that pre-date widescreen (Citizen Kane, Wizard of Oz) or deliberately shot in 4:3 (Night of the Living Dead). :P

And yet, we all know the silver screen now as wider than it is tall. Just being stupidly technical with my wording, but I really do appreciate that info. I had no idea Night of the Living Dead was intentionally shot in 4:3.

Well, the thing is, it's pronounced with a hard-O sound in Japan, like it's supposed to. In English, we're used to pronouncing Son the way we do Sun, so that's the way Sean said it.

"Son" in "Son Goku" is not pronounced like the "sun" up in the sky. My favorite Japanese dictionary describes the equivalent of the "o" vowel in Japanese being pronounced as the "o" in the English word "fort". It's not quite a "long 'O' sound" like in "boat", but almost like a shorter version of that.

What is being referred to is another scene/clip from Burst Limit where in the dub Schemmel voices/pronounces his character's full name "Son Goku" as "SUN Goku"... which is wrong.

Quite frankly, I can't imagine anyone actually pronouncing it that way unless they've never actually listened to the damn main character's name spoken aloud in the show which is all the freakin' time... which, hey, is totally possible if all you're doing is reading the manga to yourself :P.
