This song has been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it, a couple of months ago. It haunts me.

That French theme in the first post sounds like a children's show on PBS.

Go FUNimation, that opening was hardcore.

Agreed. I enjoyed it a lot; very cute, upbeat song. It's honestly a bit too perky and light for Dragon Ball Z, it would be a tighter fit for the majority of Dragon Ball, but it's a good piece of music regardless.

I still think "What is my Destiny? Dragon Ball" is the best fit for DBZ. It's hard-edged enough for a series with epic fights, but it's light and upbeat enough to convey the general Dragon Ball feel.

As for DB; I still think that Makafushigi is the best fit, but the American "Gotta find them Dragon Balls" with the rockin guitar parts fits the series pretty well too.

But why are we arguing; we all know that nothing can beat the Hindi Rock The Dragon?

Although, yikes, a 2 minute long opening? o.o

Great, another Italian opening to get stuck in my head. XD

I've noticed a few running trends regarding most Italian anime openings. Many of them like to run for the same amount of time or even longer than the original Japanese opening, and pretty much all of them - good or mediocre - tend to get stuck in your head for prolonged periods of time.

As sad as it sounds, I think I had one of the Italian Pokemon intros (which by the way are all completely different from their U.S./international counterparts, so props to them) stuck in my head for about two weeks.

I appreciate the uniqueness of the song, it's interesting that they took a different approach and made a really happy cheerful song but it just doesn't work really.

The choice of scenes for the video was just terrible.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

The French opening is one of the most grating soul crushing abominations I have ever had the misfortune of hearing, I could actually feel it shortening my lifespan.

And to be honest, apart from Rock the Dragon (which will always have a place in my heart) the FUNimation openings were just as bad, from the grating guitar solos to the incoherent mess that was the UUE intro, none of them were even remotely decent.

I don't dislike much the US openings as I don't understand, why they are so inconsistent with them..... You have around 10 openings for series. If they'll finally make english Chala, it'll be good. There are always instrumentals without singing and even if there will be most awesome instrumental theme, It won't save the popularity of US DBZ openings anymore......
There are some fine pieces like Faulconer's classic intro, Rock The Dragon isn't good, but it's classic.....
In one sentence: You are watching US dub of Dragon Ball, and after while, you are pretty bored by number and versions of these openings.

Even if the french dub intro is quite bad, everytime I heard it on TV was: Hey, it's Dragon Ball let's watch!
But when I was watching US dub, it was like: Yeah, let the intro run, after that is finally Dragon Ball.

This US intro wins for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3Wy4eIe8Ug

The portuguese dub just has a dub of the second french opening pitched up by a tone or something, pretty much... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRqGWd-ZwKo

Yeah, it's crap, but the arabic opening's worse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gteuHPVEK8Y

That one. I remember years ago around the time they first came out, I bought FUNimation's VHS tapes for the Bardock and Trunks specials, and popped in the Bardock special first. After the previews, this intro came up. In the first few frames I was excited, because I thought that finally Cha-La Head-Cha-La had been placed into a U.S. release.

...then the music started playing. I felt rather slapped in the face.

I agree too. But it sounds more like those intros for cartoons aimed at pre-school kids.
Y'know, the fact that they have to name the characters and such in the lyrics. And also the way she sings it, like "Take my hand children, we are going to have an ADVENTURE with Goku and Gohan!"

I am too a sucker for guitar riffs, but not for lyrics that are screamed instead of sung.
I would totally go for that intro if it wasn't for the "DURAGON, DURAGON, ROCK THE DRAGON! DRAGONBALL ZEEEEE!"
There is also a common misconception that any song that has guitars as instuments has to contain the word "rock" in the lyrics...
No more time for Daizex. Goodbye folks!

At least FUNimation's version of Makafushigi Adventure makes up for all of these. You have to agree it even beats the Japanese version stylistically, lyrically, and in other ways I can't even describe. Its probably the only good example of English music in anime.

Have you never watched a single anime FUNimation has licensed sans Dragon Ball?

I wouldn't say that it beats the Japanese version (nor the other way around, for that matter) but I do agree that FUNimation's take on Makafushigi Adventure was good. Same for Romantikku Ageru Yo, in my opinion.
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.
Draws comics that may or may not have been blatantly inspired by Akira Toriyama's manga.
