I was searching around the internet looking for scans of Daizenshuu and Perfect Files.
I came across varies sites and youtube with scans in european languages.
I thought these books were released in Japanese text only?
But I know Daizenshuu 1 is in English.

I know it's not an answer, but Super 17 looks super sloppy. The design and the drawing looks terrible.

Also I've come across "French Daizenshuu" were there any other non Japanese Daizenshuu released?
Who published the French Daizenshuu?
Did it sale well?
Viz should release the others in English as I know they will make some money from it.

I don't know who published it, but there were Daizenshuu released in France. It wasn't the entire set, I don't think. Pretty sure they got at least up through 7 though.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

I'm pretty sure just 1 and 7 were released there.

Glenat handled the French version of Daizenshuu 1 and 7. I'd say they sold well enough, since they frequently go back to printing. Checking Amazon used listings for Toriyama a while back, it seemed the Germans and whatever language above got official GT Perfect File translatio.

It's interesting to know that these books got translated from Japanese to other languages.
I wonder how accurate the translation are?
It makes me believe they could translate the books into english with no problem. Just time consuming.
They will still make profit even in this climate.

I'm sure it's all legalese that slows things. Well, that and marketability.
As for translation accuracy, there's a few errors in the French version. Nothing too major for the most part, but enough to be annoying. Although, it's possible the fact that they went back to printing means the newer editions don't have those problems.

Hmm so the French version is still in print?
If the Japanese version were re-printed I have a feeling they would sell. If not buy the Japanese market then outside of Japan.
I don't understand why the comany doesn't reprint them.

I own the german version of the Perfect files...
I can make some scans when I get home, if wanted.

Yup. They're hard to find in stores because they're just old reference books to a long-since completed manga series, but amazon.ca still sells them (new, not secondaty market) for $30-35 CDN each. Essentially Glenat never lowered its prices when manga became mainstream, so its manga and daizenshuu 1 are still a bit pricey. Daizenshuu 7, titled
Le Dictionnaire De Dragon Ball ("The Dragon Ball Dictionary"), is very well-priced, though.
