This debate is made a lot more complicated by the tendency for American accents to make "o" as in "Bob" sound roughly the same as "a" as in "ball". With a British accent, the two sound distinctly different -- and if I had to say which is closer to the Japanese "o" sound out of "Bob" and "phone", I would definitely pick the former. So to me, "Son" rhymes with "gone" while speaking English.

Well, sawn may be a bit of an exaggeration to make it easy to sound like what I mean, but it certaintly isn't "Sone." Japanese doesn't even have a sound like that.

I don't get how people miss this.

Not the pronunciation, the fact that this has been said nuemrous times in succession in this topic, and people still don't get it.

Hey, I know this may not be the place to ask, but it pertains indirectly to the DB Season One DVD set, so I wanted to ask someone who might know better.

Recently, we One Piece Fans got some conflicting news from FUNi about One Piece Season 4's dubbing work, and we don't know who to Trust.

I co-run a One Piece website, so I made a news post about it, and because it's pretty much the exact same situation as what happened with Dragon Ball Season One (Multiple sources telling conflicting information. "We Aren't releasing Season One at all" Wal-Mart Listing. "The Series is gonna be in 4:3" then Adam Sheehan saying "The Series is gonna be in 16:9) I felt it a good Idea to bring up the situation with Dragon Ball Season one as an example for why we can't Trust any information From FUNi right now.

The problem is, I'm a bit paranoid I got some of the information wrong since I wasn't around for the whole DB season One thing, so would anyone here who knows what all went down Mind looking over the post at the site I co-run just to fact check for me?

But doesn't Funi only own the rights to the first 3 seasons and Movie 8 in their One Piece contract?

Yes they do, but we got info from Chris Sabat (He plays Zoro) that recently, they started work on Season 4 (which would be the Davy Back Fight and Water 7)
He even specifically told us they were "Right before Meeting Franky".

Then Mike McFarland and Adam Sheehan denied it.

This situation is STRIKINGLY SIMILAR to the DB Season One DVD situation. Where we get one Source telling us it's happening, then another saying it's not. So I felt it a good Idea to mention the DB situation.

I know I've got my One Piece info correct, the thing I'm concerned about is the Dragon Ball info I posted.

There is, but it doesn't sound at all like we would pronounce "Go" or "Oh".

Well, I'm trying to find it in the source code, but there's a lot of Javascript. I don't know enough of Javascript to understand what's happening and Ctrl-f hasn't helped much.

Unless somebody who knows a lot more about this stuff than me goes through it, looks like somebody will have to do the print-screen method.

I did manage to get this.
