More VIZ Delays? God Why?!

Post by Haseowolf » Fri Jul 17, 2009 12:53 pm

So I was hopping onto Amazon to pre-order Dragon Ball VizBig 5, the last four volumes of the tankobon, since no bookstore around me has kept up with DB VBs since 3 for each; when I see it was pushed back from this Tuesday, the 21st, to August 18th!!

Guess this is just my sad story topic but also to inform anyone else who was waiting on this. I see in the show notes that Mike and Meri haven't covered a VizBig since DB 4, so I think this is new to people. Sorry if its not I'm just an idiot.

For the love of Kami, I don't see why anyone would want a big book full of what they've already bought. They'd just take up more "Dragonball Space", in my "Closet Turned Dragonball Museum".

It's the only version of the manga I own/plan to own as they come out. So its meaningful to me, damn it! ^_^ They're big, but good paper quality, larger pictures, and at least some are color (not as awesome as Kanzenban, but some is better than non).

I think it's primarily those of us who haven't bought the manga before who are getting these.

Exactily. Anyway, its not a big delay. Just a month.

I really just kind of want to know why they delay these when they are already translated and censored where they like them to be.

Is it an expense issue? Do they not have the money right now to print these large-format, colored issues?

Is it a a financial outlook thing? Like they would be better off releasing this and the like a month or so down the road so their books look better and not dipping and spiking at certain times during their quarter?

Are they actually doing fixes or something to their copies to print these?

I think most of the times its just an unexpected delay in the number of copies and/or distribution, or just strategic marketing.

Meh, they should have just released the kanzenban. I'll continue to buy up the single volumes and kanzenban for my manga needs.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I prefer that they are cheaper even if they are not so perfect as the kanzenban would have been.

However this only happens with Dragon Ball, I think. The Rurouni Kenshin VizBigs so far have been perfect.

What I want to know is why Viz decided to stretch out the release schedule for the Z portion of the omnibus release to only then release volumes six and seven in January of next year. :?

Yea the delays annoy me too. That's one of the main reasons why I've been trying to see my Vizbigs for $8.49.

I do prefer the Vizbigs because of the size and the color pages.

Funny my DBZ Vizbig Vol. 4 says Vol. 5 is due out July 2009. LOL

Hm, I haven't been keeping up with them, but it's too bad for those who really are as they come out. I do plan to buying them at some point, though.

It is confusing, I think. Viz is willing to release 30 One Piece volumes over a few months starting January so any delays for marketing or saving money at this point seems just...odd compared to that announcement.

I wonder if it has to do with retailers, and how much space VizBigs take up. Once all of them are released I can't see every store always having room for them, because I usually see 2 or 3 Dragonball/Z volumes at a time.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

Held out for 10 years on buying DBZ DVD's hoping for a real release.

Got one.

How long am I going to have to outlast Viz before they give in?

The Vizbigs are almost perfect in my opinion. So it`s not bad.

If only they had used their uncensored editions of the manga to put together the Vizbigs and kept all the color that the Kanzenban has, it would be perfect.

Since the censoring that was done does not bother me and there are quite a few chapters in color, its almost perfect.

I also like the Vizbig books. Higher quality paper and some color artwork (with annoying censorship) and they also save a lot of room. Somehow one omnibus is actually thinner than three volumes stacked together.

But I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Kanzenban if they were uncensored and had the original terminology and such restored.

Maybe it'll get cancelled for an uncut Kanzenban release?

Funimation can do it, so can Viz!

I would be extremely pissed if that was the case  .

If they want to release the kanzenban then do it after the Vizbigs are done. There are only 1 DB Vizbig and 5 DBZ Vizbigs left to go.

I purposely refuse to but the Vizbig's. The DBZ one the censorship doesn't bother me, but with DB I think they censored too much even for a teen rating. I'll stick to my uncensored graphic novels. =)

They only censored the nudity and bulma showing the finger. Personally censoring the nudity doesn`t bother me. Only censoring bulma showing the finger bothers me a litlle.

But I understand your view.
