Yup, haha. FUNi's logo and all on it.

So glad it was announced. I was gonna start questioning if it wasn't at Otakon or SDCC.

Anywho, can't wait! So glad I did not buy the orange bricks.

When the DragonBall season sets were announced on July 4th, I knew that the announcement to follow wasn't going to be particularly ordinary, but I certainly didn't expect it to be . . . THIS.

Are you gonna eat your shorts for what you said in the Big Announcement Speculation thread?
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Wow it all hasn't sunk it yet. I'm still in shock. Good looking out Funi. Hopefully this will light a fire under Viz and they'll put out the rest of the Daizenshuu. Clearly anything is possible.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Oh wow... I am almost crying here. I REALLY hope Funimation does not spoil it this time with their own crappy editing and wide screen treatment. Here's hoping for the Dragonball and Movie Dragonbox sets in the future, which is now something we are likely to look forward too. Oh man . . . I am really glad I held out for this. :D

Damn, the last year and a half has been crazy for Dragon Ball. New special, HD Remake, Dragon Ball Season sets with the first 13 episodes finally coming out Uncut, and now this.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!

. . . me?! I'm the one who made that thread; it was MIKE who said that he didn't see the announcement as anything more than a release schedule for the DragonBall season sets.

The first box is coming out in the fall!? Wow, that's really soon already! I can't wait!

Hey, does this mean that FUNimation might have finally gotten all of the licensing taken care of? I really hope Unmei no Hi finally gets on a U.S. DVD!

Li'l Lemmy wrote:FUNimation has laid out no such hints. I have absolutely no idea were this newfound optimism for DragonBall Z in 4:3 is coming from, but that feels like a facetious hope to me. I think it's more a case of one person's optimism having brought out the wishful thinking in others.

Oh, THAT.

Hey, I'll eat shit at this point to make up for what I said, although to be fair my viewpoint was certainly the safe bet at the time.

I think making the Japanese version the default one is a bit over the top. None of the 60-soemthing titles under FUNi's belt do that. Most of the crap in this fandom stems from them trying to make DBZ out to be "special" or something.

Not a huge deal, but just what I think.

Pics or it didn't happen.

In all seriousness though, I agree with you. Just last week, it seemed like something like this was a distant impossibility and really just more of an optimistic pipe dream. FUNimation's certainly managed to put the entire fanbase in shock, I'd say.

FUNimation already said on their blog that they will be uploading the panel to their Youtube.

Apparently, the minor faction of the fandom that screams for quality over quantity and affordability has more sway over what happens with DragonBall in America than we were previously led to believe. Let this be a lesson to all of us-- we can, in fact, effect change if we are dissatisfied with the treatment of a series, and if we'd told FUNimation to fuck off at the end of 2007 then I GUARANTEE that we would have had these new boxes in 2008 instead of a second orange brick.

I wonder if I should get rid of my R2 singles now.
