And to think... I was planning on buying the orange bricks. Thanks you FUNi, for announcing this JUST in time!

Id LOVE to pick these up but i wont if its not in english.
It's being released by FUNimation, so it's safe to assume that it will have FUNi voice and dialogue, but the main track will be the Japanese, so you'll have to switch to the FUNi voice track.

That's easy, its the fact that they bought the masters from them. FUNI can tell TOEI to go to hell.
Pretty much. Toei's already bathing in the amount of money Funi had to pay them in the first place.

Yeah but they'll doubt they'll order as many and i doubt they'll be restocked as often.
I don't think Funi's gonna dick us around like Toei did.
No, I don't think so either, but I just don't see these overflooding the market like the season sets do. If I go to my local Best Buy, they have damn near a whole shelf cluttered with them.

Best Buy, Suncoast, and FYE are the most reliable places for Anime releases generally.

Anybody else find it hilarious that this thread has gone to 11 pages in the span of 5 hours?

Anyway, Amazon will probably have them at a decent price. And god knows Amazon stocks well enough.

Over here in Aus we got a fairly scarce release of the bricks, So i am pretty sure i will be importing from the US.

WOW. Holy shit on a shingle!

THIS is what happens when I sleep most of the day away, I miss all this exciting news! I'm very excited for this release, but I bought all of the Season Sets, so buying these so soon after will be weird and costly. But worth it. (especially for all proper OP/EDs, previews, and all music left intact.)
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Let's hope that, with these sets being aimed at the japanese version's fans, they don't encode the japanese audio at 96kbps again >_>

I'm amazed that it didn't happen in April back when 112 users were online for the first DBK episode.

It would be awesome if they did include the special features from the Japanese boxes. But i won't get my hopes up.

Although it would be nuts if we got the Playdia footage dubbed or even raw it would be good.

Yeah, this is the most packed I've ever seen Daizex before.

I don't know if this has been discussed already, but I'm wondering about the English track. Will it be 5.1 or stereo? I'm assuming if anything it'll be the dub with the original music, since I see no reason to ever include another score these days. However, since we're getting the next episode previews, what will become of them? Will they be left in Japanese, only to be shown when watching in Japanese or will they get a new dub? And if they get a new dub, what are the chances of YET ANOTHER redub of the entire series? On one hand, it could easily be the definitive edition of an English Dragon Ball Z, keeping it as close to the original script as possible, and could gather even more sales. On the OTHER hand, however, Funimation clearly knows this release is intended for the hardcore fans; the ones who couldn't care less about watching it in English anymore, so what would be the point of even redubbing anything? I guess we'll find out in November.

In any case, I'm very happy to finally be able to watch DBZ in Japanese without that godawful fuzzy sound quality.

AGREED.

I'm really baffled a release date wasn't mentioned. How on Earth did FUNi manage to announce this without saying when to expect it? I guess fans really were THAT high off of this news at the con.

Hooly crap. Saw the update in Mike's twitter a while ago, went to the forums and read through each post just to make sure I absorbed every tidbit of knowledge I could get on the release (seeing the thread increase from 9 pages to 11 in the process :P).

I was so positive that this day would never come. Every time I'd go to Target, I would pass by the shelf of Widescreen Season Sets with a sigh, so certain that those would be the final versions to be released in the states for some time. But now... oh god. You have no idea how hard it was to contain my excitement as I calmly walked up the stairs so I could undergo all my theatrics and excitement and whatever else in my room.

Considering that we're talking Dragon Box here, I seriously doubt FUNi would do something that would shoot themselves in the foot with this release. Though with that said, there are still a good number of things that can only be guessed about with these releases-- especially when it comes to special features. I'm seriously hoping for Toonami commercials at the least, but that's just me.

As for dubbing, I'm really hoping for a completely new redub with an accurate script, but I'd be totally fine with the original as long as they keep the Japanese BGM track with it. And of course, there's always the original Japanese version.

I can see myself paying the full $80 for this, but I'm sure the price will go down by at least $20 like with the season sets in most retailers.
