I was born 'n bread on the dub and am still a dub lover, but I am wiling to acknowledge that, with rare exception, the dub music is sub-par when compared to the original.NeptuneKai wrote:A lot of people are fans of Soujaboy too. Much like Funimation, he's a genius at making money.NeptuneKai wrote:A lot of people are fans of Soujaboy too. They swear he's an excellent artist.jjgp1112 wrote: A lot of people happen to think that the dub music is also high quality, too.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Wow. Guess I don’t have to make my own hybrid DVDs anymore…
Makes me wish I did not spend so much money on the DragonBoxes. Oh well, they are still collectors’ items, and I for one will not be selling mine; I will simply buy the US sets as well to complete my dub collection, and to support a good release (although the choice to put out the Season Sets right before this was very underhanded).
Judging by the size of them, it does not look like they will come with the same extras (like the figures), if any. And who knows what bitrate/processing FUNi will have used for the video; will we be getting noise-reduced, color-altered D.Box video here, or a bit-for-bit copy of what Toei put out? Either way, with the extra audio tracks taking up space they could still end up looking worse than the R2s—probably not by much, but, knowing FUNi…
By the way, are we finally ready to admit that nobody really wanted the Season Sets; people just put up with them because they thought that was their only option? I mean, after all of the pro-widescreen arguments, it seems that in the end, everyone is happier with the correct aspect ratio.

I for one admit this. Had I know of this godly release that is about to be dropped upon us, I would have not bought the shitty season sets.Acid_Reign wrote:

Considering the fact that the last 3 Season sets had great quality with 3 audio options, there's nothing to worry about. And Chris Sabat said, "We didn't change a damn thing."Acid_Reign wrote:Wow. Guess I don’t have to make my own hybrid DVDs anymore…

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I can see it having something like what came with the Orange Bricks (but with more accurate information), at the very least... Maybe some sort of adaptation of the books that came with the original boxes. Or... Maybe some random high quality art (maybe of the single release box art!?).Freeza Heika wrote:So what do you guys hope/want to see in this book that comes with it? If I recall, the Dragonbox had a book, but it was not 560 pages, so what content could be in there. Hopefully it isn't the same book 7 times, because, well...that would be stupid.Maybe some stuff ripped from the Daizenshuu, eh, eh, EH!?
And had you suggested stuff from the Daizenshuu being included with a DVD release yesterday, I would've have given you a 0_o;...
But it's almost like anything could happen at this point.

As far as I can remember, I for one ended up being "okay" with the sets since they were the best and most affordable thing available for the time being. But that was only until something better came out, like these now. Rest assured I'll be pawning off my Season Sets before long to build up funds for these suckers.Acid_Reign wrote:By the way, are we finally ready to admit that nobody really wanted the Season Sets; people just put up with them because they thought that was their only option?

I hope you don't take offense to this, but why do you even want these sets? Every post you've made in this thread points towards you preferring the orange season sets. Just curious about why you would not buy the product that seems better catered to your taste.VenomSymbiote wrote:Wrong. I loved the widescreen way more than the fullscreen.
But hey, whatever. I won't sweat it being fullscreen. I can watch it in that with no problem.

Been saying that right along. My investing in the season sets was just a matter of my being like "oh fuck it" since I was convinced at the time that those were as good as we'd ever get.Acid_Reign wrote:By the way, are we finally ready to admit that nobody really wanted the Season Sets; people just put up with them because they thought that was their only option?
If I had ANY indication that we'd be getting ANYTHING this sick for certain, there's no way in hell I would've caved. I waited over a decade while ignoring release after release before the season sets; had I known then what I know now, waiting an extra three years would've been nothing at all to me.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Ah, great.Big Boss wrote:FUNi have stated they are "not changing a damn thing".
You are of course entitled to your preference, but I don’t understand the reasoning behind it. If someone said to you, here, you can choose to see either the whole of the original artwork, or a little more than half of it… would you really choose the latter?VenomSymbiote wrote:Wrong. I'm keeping Season sets. I will be buying Dragon Box. It's like a dream coming true
Seriously! The price for 1-42 is freakin cheap even for Dragon Box footage!

This. I love the Orange Bricks, I'd just rather have these.mattymoron wrote:I didn't really have a problem with the season sets, and I very willingly bought all of them. Do I concede that the Dragonbox is going to be super amazo bad ass? Yes. Do I think that the bricks were a horrible product? No.
