I honestly doubt FUNi picked up Dragon Box footage for DB or GT, since 1) GT already has a decent 4:3 release for cheap with on for DB on the way and 2) DBZ is FUNi's cash cow.
Though considering how FUNimation was even able to pull off something like this, I guess anything can happen with future releases. Though for the record, I am completely content with keeping my GT singles and finishing my gaps in DB with the upcoming bricks. Then again, maybe that's what FUNi wants me to do only to reveal Dragon Box releases for those! Um... um... *explodes*

What the hell are you talking about? Again, I don't mind if it's included, but if they sacrifice any amount of quality to squeeze in any extra junk, then they're idiots.
They spent money specifically for the Japanese masters, I doubt they'll be willing to sacrifice quality for extra dub tracks. It's like buying a specific car with a crazy stereo system, and then ripping the stereo out and throwing it in the trash.

I see where you're coming from, but most people here are saying they shouldn't include it just because they don't like it. That's what I'm arguing against.DBW wrote:No, infact I hope that it's included. I'm just saying that demanding multiple versions of the dub might be excessive.jjgp1112 wrote:The dub isn't a part of the Dragon Boxes either. FUNimation has already bought the series twice. The reason why they're now purchasing it a third time is specifically for the Pony Canyon remastering process. If they end up doing something to hurt the quality of this (like over-packing the disks, poor encoding, etc.), then they'd have just completely wasted their money.
It's great if they can fit 20 dubs on there, but if any of it sacrifices the product that they're selling (the Dragon Box, aka Pony Canyon's remastering), then they should not include it.

Yeah, gotta love the dubs awesome moments. All I want is the 5.1 dub they had on the season sets, even with some cringe worthy moments, this was they was I first experience DBZ before watching the International Channel's airing.

I feel the same way. I'd like a more "raw" experience (well, as "raw" as the dub can get with the Japanese BGM...)Rory wrote:Y'know what I hope?
I hope there is no Faulconer track on here, and we finally move past the "hardcore" aspect of Dragonball Z. Both tracks should have Kikuchi's original score, so if anybody imports it, they don't need to be dumbfounded by the god awful music on the "3rd" track.
It'd be a completely pure Dragonball experiance, even if you switch to the dub.

Y’know… assuming that these sets do not have the dub with the Faulconer music, it got me thinking… once I sell off my season sets, I’ll also be selling off my only chance to watch the whole damn series in its full and completely audio raped format.
Now on the one hand, there’s nothing in the least bit bad about this in and of itself; this is basically the equivalent of my having effectively ignored and bypassed an option to have my scrotum raked over a cheese slicer.
But on the other hand… I have watched the series in it’s entirety about three times, all in its original Japanese (with good subs only being a consistent presence on the third run through), and my experience with the dub is admittedly analogous to that of Harvey Keitel’s character Charlie in Mean Streets, who had a habit of holding his fingers over a candle/lighter/stove’s flames; like Charlie with the flames, I only watched the dub (on purpose and of my own volition: I’m not counting the many times it was incidentally on in the same room with me or that Onikage forced me to watch it against my will) for moments at a time, sometimes only to test my own personal endurance, and always ending with my recoiling and retracting myself in a lot of physical pain (regardless of what “era” of the dub I looked into, including the much ballyhooed Boo-arc dub).
However… the possibility that I may never be able to have this experience in full, undesirable though it may be, is starting to almost, kinda, sorta tempt me into giving the entirety of Z a go, dubbed and with the Faulconer score while it's still available to me, just on the sheer basis that it may never again be an option available to me.
Mind you, this is no guarantee that I plan on doing this, and I could very well just be spouting random shit out of pure fanboy euphoria (sorta like making a drunken bet that requires you to dive out a second story window head-first into a thumbtack; you’d ONLY agree to something that stupid willingly cause you’re drunk or stoned)… but still, if the confirmation does indeed come in that the “pure” dub experience will not be on these sets (that I eagerly am planning on replacing my Orange Bricks with), then who knows, if I’m in JUUUUUST a good enough mood…

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

The disc space could go toward making the best encoding possible for the Japanese version with subs.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Yes but there is no reason why Funimation shouldn't include English dub specially for us to purchase DBOX, would it?Daimo-Rukiri wrote:This release was literally intended for the Japanese fans of DBZ.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I can see what you are saying but I have seen every American movies included with foreign languages and they still have good encoding.Kendamu wrote:The disc space could go toward making the best encoding possible for the Japanese version with subs.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Yes but there is no reason why Funimation shouldn't include English dub specially for us to purchase DBOX, would it?Daimo-Rukiri wrote:This release was literally intended for the Japanese fans of DBZ.
Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru's #1 biggest fan
I vote for this as well! Besides, FUNi said this was not for the "casual" fan. I don't care, I'd prefer the English dub with Japanese BGM to be on there but only if ti doesn't make the video quality suffer. I want these to be clones of the Japanese releases!Kendamu wrote:The disc space could go toward making the best encoding possible for the Japanese version with subs.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Yes but there is no reason why Funimation shouldn't include English dub specially for us to purchase DBOX, would it?Daimo-Rukiri wrote:This release was literally intended for the Japanese fans of DBZ.

I agree with you on this. Its customary for any Anime in this day and age to include both, original Japanese and an English Dub. For Dragon Ball Z, it would seem like blasphemy. Why, many fans grew up watching the dub and watched the original version. Well, this is merely for the sake of nostalgia, on my part. But, an English track should be available to those that like to watch, not read the episodes. I had friends that used that term to watched dubbed video over Subtitled material. I HATED that. Then, there are those that hate the Japanese dub. All the complaints of the characters sounding whiny...DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Yes but there is no reason why Funimation shouldn't include English dub specially for us to purchase DBOX, would it?Daimo-Rukiri wrote:This release was literally intended for the Japanese fans of DBZ.
Thought, if it were up to me, all we need are Subtitles!
As for the faulconer score, eh, they can drop that just for the sake of the compromise in video quality if added.

Good. So let us people who actually like it enjoy it instead of getting rid of it just because you don't like it.Raki wrote:I haven't in 2 years.jjgp1112 wrote:Well here's a way for you to not have to deal with the dub.Raki wrote:Because people would have no choice but to watch DBZ without all the added nonsense and rewrites. I don't like Mosaka Nozawa's Goku performance, but that doesn't mean that Funi should mute all of Goku's Japanese lines.
