Oh my god this is crazy, but definitely bittersweet. I purchased DBZ Seasons 1-6 and the Movies up to 5 & 6. I'll have to pick this up, and then decide if I want to sell the Season sets.
With that said, it's really a great time to be a DragonBall fan. Or a FUNimation exec, for that matter.

Subtitles will cost nothing to the film master, but adding 0.5GB of audio just for one language is going to kill it. A Dbox episodes is 2GB! 2.5GB can kill the picture.
There should be no transfer problems as we are NTSC!
I'm pretty sure when they said "we're not changing a damn thing" they meant the film masters.
Here's what I honestly think will happen. In lieu of bad bitrate issues, I think they will only include the JPN BGM and offer the English dub. Not Faulconer dub. Now, they could do that on Blu-ray discs.

Keep it as IS, don't fuck it up. You said you didn't touch a thing so keep to your word! Just add subs and leave it alone!!!
Was referring to FUNimation. Any idea when this will go pre-order? Cause My debit card wants to give away some info right now.
So adding extras will ruin the Dragon Box quality? i didn't know that...

Just be quiet and let us have English dub.
Again, thinking your ignorance towards him refers to the message you sent me.

That's all I'm saying..
Wonder when the Amazon link will be up! And also, I'm selling some stuff for this, so PM me for details!
What message? I'm forgetting about it.

@Daimo-Rukiri Dude, don't quote like 7 levels deep. Makes it hard to get through here. Thanks! ^^
Ya know, I would be fine if the kept the broadcast track. Brings nostalgia.

You must not have been listening very hard. We still haven't got a release in the US to match the Japanese release standards. No original stereo track and interlaced video? ADV can stick their "Platinum" release up their ass.

Ya know, it would be totally cool if they release DBOX with Japanese audio or Funimation dub with original Japanese BGM.
Any thought, guys?

Yes, yes they can. I ended up buying the Renewal of Evangelion DVD Box-Set due to this. While it was expensive, it was well worth it!
Dragon Ball on the other had, has never gotten a release like this. This is like the first time the series will be released here in the US. It feels like something new.

Go back a couple pages and you'll see how some people feel about it.

It won't affect me if the dub isn't there. But,
a dub will likely be there or otherwise there'd be no point in saying that the US DBoxes default to Japanese audio.

Agreed. But I will ask this to dub fans. Which would you rather have: The Japanese BGM or the Broadcast BGM?
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Broadcast BGM. I love Faulconer's score.

Honestly at first I used to switch back a forth but nowadays I just watch the dub with original music. It really does just fit better.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.
If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.

Now on the one hand, there’s nothing in the least bit bad about this in and of itself; this is basically the equivalent of my having effectively ignored and bypassed an option to have my scrotum raked over a cheese slicer.
But on the other hand… I have watched the series in it’s entirety about three times, all in its original Japanese (with good subs only being a consistent presence on the third run through), and my experience with the dub is admittedly analogous to that of Harvey Keitel’s character Charlie in Mean Streets, who had a habit of holding his fingers over a candle/lighter/stove’s flames; like Charlie with the flames, I only watched the dub (on purpose and of my own volition: I’m not counting the many times it was incidentally on in the same room with me or that Onikage forced me to watch it against my will) for moments at a time, sometimes only to test my own personal endurance, and always ending with my recoiling and retracting myself in a lot of physical pain (regardless of what “era” of the dub I looked into, including the much ballyhooed Boo-arc dub).
However… the possibility that I may never be able to have this experience in full, undesirable though it may be, is starting to almost, kinda, sorta tempt me into giving the entirety of Z a go, dubbed and with the Faulconer score while it's still available to me, just on the sheer basis that it may never again be an option available to me.
Even though
I like the Eng dub myself, putting yourself through such misery just for the hell of it...you are, in the nicest possible way, one sick fuck!
