English Dragon Box Release
Broadcats, for me. Well, at least episodes 68-291. But 1-67, original.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Boy I tell you what that dub sure does suck. It makes the whole series look like one big joke. I mean, you have a big fat pink monster fighting a monkey man with hair the length of his body, sure, but it's those ONE LINERS that make everybody not take the show seriously. It sure pisses me off when those dub fans with their elongated brows and knuckles dragging on the floor, waltz in here and say that they want the show like they remember it with great video. Where do they get off? Who in their right mind would give those idiots what they want? It's us Japanese fans that deserve to get what we want. Let them have their 16:9 video, because clearly they all like their garbage like that.
I mean sure the dub introduced millions of people to a great series and provided a market here in the United States so that I can get cool merchandise and video games without having to import at ball-pinching prices, but honestly anybody who still likes it after watching the show in a language they don't understand is a fool with terrible taste.
Remember folks, I actually am a fan of the original Japanese version along with the dub. I'm pretty sick of this pointless arguing.

Wow! I start the thread then have to get going to work only to come home and have 19..23...27...31 pages of homework to read!!!
This is truly exciting! I've waited for this release for helluva long time. Yeah, I too bought the orange bricks almost day one for each and every one (not Season 2 or 7) and yeah, I'm a little ticked that I wasted about $300 just so I can spend more on this.
But those of us did...I think we did our part as well. I mean, desire and demand can only get so you so far in getting what you want. Money has to be there in order for releases to be made. It was ALL of us. The complainers. The sell outs (hey, that's what I'm calling myself so I'm not insulting anyone here). The hybrids. We ALL made this happen.
Yeah, we're FUNi's bitch, but in being their slaves for over a decade, we got what we've wanted all along.
Please, don't ruin this thread with arguments over which version is better. We don't have solid evidence so it would be pointless. Don't stop discussion, just give reasons on why you think it would go one way or another. No need to bitch at someone for their opinion. Not micro-modding, just giving a piece of advice. I mean, we're the DaizEX community here, for Kami's sake!!!
I'm just...I'm just so excited. I laughed like a nutjob my whole drive into work today.
I'm really hoping they include the Dub with Faucloner score myself as my boyfriend loves it dubbed they way he watched it on TV and its the only way he'll enjoy my favorite anime with me. Other than that, I'm so glad. I personally am excited about the Japanese default and I'm hoping we get a good bitrate on that Japanese dub.

Because anime fans aren't used to weird things like blonde guys fighting pink monsters.Innagadadavida wrote:Boy I tell you what that dub sure does suck. Will it really be significant, though? I mean, I don't think adding another audio track will make it look like the singles.snaku wrote:Screw that, the more audio tracks they include, the more of a hit in quality the rest of the set will take.jjgp1112 wrote:There's only ONE Japanese version. I'm not sure if this is FUNi's fault or the fans fault. Probably a combination of both...But I really think it's sad that people need to be afraid to consider DragonBall (Namely Z) as hardcore. Yes, I get it, Funimation changed the music. Ally to good, nightmare to you. Yadda, yadda, yadda. We all know what Funimation changed about the series. But to me that doesn't change the fact, that music aside, voice cast aside. The fights I am watching are hardcore and intense. I mean seriously, once you get to Piccolo Daimao, it's no longer a martial arts epic. It's an intense action series. You can't tell me that Goku and Freeza on a planet set to blow in a few minutes or Goku and Vegeta throwing down all those years later with all that tension and drama isn't intense or, yes, "hardcore".
I'm sorry, but it appears to me that because of what FUNi has done, fans need to be afraid that if they think of DBZ as hardcore then elitists (Yes, I used the dreaded "E-Word") will look down upon them.

Dear Christ, 32 pages in a couple of days. I'll go back and read this thing after posting (And watching the first episode of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's).
I've never cared much about the picture quality or screen resolution, but Japanese audio as the default is a convenience for me, and the episode previews and reviews are restored? Hell fucking yes. They're a lot of fun to watch, and the BGM for the 'Last Episode' segments (Episodes 1-199) is one of my favorite songs in the series. I dunno if the Next Episode bits use the same song or not, the A.H.Q. subs discluded them.

You bet. That's more than likely why I see them only having the Japanese BGM. You can choose Daimao's subs or Funi's dub. I'm old school and so cool, so I'll go with the subs FTW!snaku wrote:Screw that, the more audio tracks they include, the more of a hit in quality the rest of the set will take.jjgp1112 wrote:There's only ONE Japanese version. You're looking at a different use of "hardcore" than what we are (or at least I am). By "hardcore" people mean all the rock music and stuff that sets the series to a completely different tone than the what Japanese version gives off. Same in how FUNimation just used the word "hardcore" to describe fans off the Japanese version and it got jjgp feeling all sore because dub fans can be hardcore, too.Gozar wrote:I'm not sure if this is FUNi's fault or the fans fault. I've never understood why people say DBZ isn't some hardcore show. Just look at it for God's sake.

The problem being that FUNimation's dub tends to overplay that "hardcore" aspect to the point where the show ends up being dumbed down. The tone and nature of the dub's music only worsens that "twist."

That's exactly how the Japanese releases were done.Kaiser Gogeta wrote:I'm not sure if this has been said yet, but the title for the DBox that was shown on the trailer is "Dragon Box Z", so I think that leaves room for DB and DBGT. (Not sure if it's on the box itself, I forgot what the box said)
But I'm with you in hoping for a release of a Dragon Box for all of DB/Z/GT and the Movies.

Not this.
You say "hardcore" with a completely different meaning than we do in the same way that FUNimation used the term "hardcore fan" to describe a fan of the Japanese version when you of all people should know that dub fans can be "hardcore", too.
