We should start calling these FuniBoxes like MagicBox does.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

That's something I can't quite wrap my head around yet either. It just still hasn't hit me, and I don't think it will until I'm holding it in my hands. To think, back when the season sets were announced, everybody pretty much gave up all hope of ever seeing anything close to this, and now, in a just a few short months, we'll just be able to go out and buy these like it's no big deal.

After years of hearing about them, you build them up in your mind as something you're never going to get. Hell, you build them up in your mind as something you're never going to even SEE. My head starts spinning again every time I come back to this thread.

Who'd have thought that American fans would ever be able to point at their DragonBall collections and say "yeah, there's some posters, a few figures, a DAIZENSHUU BOOK, and, oh yeah, MY DRAGONBOXES."

Not to be rude, but why are guys bemoaning purchasing season sets or older dvds with this news? With the older ones, you don't have the hated widescreen, at least. Or are guys who didn't get certain sets not wanting to have mixed collections like my entirety of YYH here:

Image is in order.

I never thought I'd ever see Dragon Boxes on my own fucking TV set. Or play them on my own DVD player. It's glorious. Novemeber's already my favorite month of the year thanks to my birthday, but now it REALLY is.

That last set should be short about 3 episodes compared to the others. Maybe they'll put the extras that they do intend to have all in that extra space.

I just finished skimming the entirity of this thread to catch up on what I missed.

Though sadly, I was really hoping to find a link to pre-order the first box, there is no way I'm not snapping this up right away.

As am I, this will make one hell of an awesome birthday present for myself, pity I'll have to wait an extra week or two for shipping.

While I would normally take a wait and see approach for the best deal, I'm probably gonna go with Right Stuf for at least the first box. I'll pay a little more for the chance that it might ship early.

Damn. You guys are really building this up for me. I guess I never really understood just how coveted the R2 DragonBoxes were. Here I am, just excited that I can finally own the entirety of the series in un-meddled-with 4:3 with Japanese audio... but you guys are helping me to really appreciate the gravity of the situation. 8)

Consider me officially stoked, and my DB fandom officially recharged. It's even sweeter because I was patient and didn't waste a dime on the bricks.

With the original DVD singles and Ultimate Uncuts, you can't get the entire series in 4:3 and by this point it's not a very fruitful hunt trying to track every single one of them down.

With the Orange Bricks, you have the widescreen and dirt and such that we always moan about.

With the R1 Dragon Boxes, you can have the whole series in a much better print then the two previous releases for not much more than the Season Sets (based on MSRP).

Wow, GREAT news. I'm pretty hyped, honestly... $80 seems steep, but from Amazon or on sale or whatever, probably down to $60 or so. A hardcover book - probably just an artbook or something, but still - is worth about $20, I'd say, so that evens out to less than a dollar per episode.

THAT is a great deal.

Of course, I'm going to wait until they announce a Dragonball box and a GT box, because if I'm investing in this I want the best part of the series, too. And GT because, I dunno, why not? Good to know they've got the movie box, though - I might buy that at release, though the movies are mostly hit-or-miss, so that's up in the air at the moment.

...unless they have a pre-order bonus for a Scouter, like in Japan. Then I'd be all over it, man.

Funi could do a RightStuf pre-order bonus.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I have concerns the bitrate and image quality will suffer. If they add the 5.1 track on here, we might have problems......

Sorry buddy, but the quality will not change. It's DRAGON BOX, for Kaioshin's sake! Stop whining! I hate to see the dogs here whining because of one more episode pack in per disc. Gosh, I'm so sick of them bashing on Funimation all the time! I came here to see the excited faces of the fans here but instead all I see was hating and rage!

You should be happy that Funimation will be release Dragon Box at all or else you will be suffering at the hand of Remastered Season sets! You all have have to learn to be more appreciative instead of vomiting in rage and drunk out on them. For me personally, I'm happy that they will release the perfect gift, a gift that nobody thought would be released. I don't care if they milk my money. I will buy anything as long as it's Dragon Ball because I'm a darn collector. I'm happy with my season sets and I'm even more happy that there will be American version of Dragon Box.

Now all I see here was dissing on Funimation when they try to give what fans really wanted for over a decade of suffering! I'm so sick of Funi vs Ocean, Jap vs Funi BGM (yes I just used the dreaded Jap) or Remastered vs Dragon Box! Ugh! Don't ever compare the releases. They are not all the same! It's like comparing apple and orange, polar bear and grizzly bear, white butt and black butt. I'm so tired of hearing that all the time. Can't you guys just be happy for once?

Dragon Box was supposed to be released in Japan only and were in limited-edition pre-order releases. Does that the same of here? No. We can buy Dragon Box in major retailer stores. If you don't like that ultimate gift, you might as well go back to old days of Saban releases and hold them dear.

I'm feeling much better, thanks to venting on my anger.
