Dragonball Reference in new Harry Potter movie

Post by Kroni_Hunter » Mon Jul 20, 2009 3:20 pm

Just a small one, but it caught my attention and somewhat amused me. During one of Slughorn's parties, McClaggen takes a round shaped food from Harry. He eats it and asks what it is, to which Harry replies, "Dragon balls". Lol

and then all the 13 year olds in the theater were on cloud 9.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

I'm pretty sure he was just referring to a dragon's testicles.

I'm pretty sure balls of the dragon variety are not limited to a single popularized anime series.

Now why would 13 year olds these days be interested in something that ended 14 years ago?

Actually, my girlfriend's little brother is 13 and he loves Dragonball.

I think Neptune was talking about the sexual joke inserted into what is supposed to be a kids movie.

Funny how I saw this today, and chuckled when he said that.
It clearly isn't a reference, but did that stop me from turning to my girlfriend and grinning?
Of course not.

I dunno.. I thought that that one Harry Potter movie where it ended in Harry and some green-ish dude having a beam battle while the dead parents of Harry Potter cheer him on right behind him seemed pretty Cell Game-like to me.

Well, they do say that Bleach is just DBZ with swords. I guess Harry Potter is DBZ with wands. :)

Seriously, though, these are likely just amusing coincidences.

@Neptune:

Why you you refer to 13 yr olds when they werent even born until AFTER it was over with?

Because he might've been thinking about when DBZ ended in Japan ('95, I think?) right rather than whenever in the early 2000s that it ended in the US.

Or because 13 year old kids like the word "balls" especially when an adjective or noun is in front of it.

Well, there's another thread for references to Dragon Ball in other media, this could just go there, but it's most likely not referencing Dragon Ball at all.
