In an ideal world it would be:

11/10/09
11/12/09
11/14/09
11/16/09
11/18/09
11/20/09
11/22/09

and give me just enough time in between to watch them.

I don't have time to wait! I have no patience. I just need to sell everything I own. All that I really need to keep is a tv, a dvd player, a generator, and a few gallons of gas.

A release every two months would be ideal IMO.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

You're more dedicated than me. I'm only selling some DVDs for about $100.

I would hope not.
And what's wrong with that? So long as the Dragon Box versions get released in some form, that's what would seem to be important, not in what box set they appear. The specials are, in a sense, movies; I see no reason that they should look so out of place on the Movies Box.

~Da Lemmy
They would work better around the episodes in which they aired on TV. The TV Specials are more canon than the movies will ever be so it should be with the episodes.

I own the Tekkaman Blade sets. They are Japanese audio only. Dub fans can purchase the Teknoman sets, often sold right next to the Tekkaman Blade sets. You have your choice of Voltron or Go-Lion. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada all have a release (though I think Macross did get a new dub), but if you prefer the Macross, Robotech Masters, and New Generation sagas of Robotech, those are still out there as well. I believe the same can mostly be said for Sailor Moon. Granted, in these cases the dubs were so heavily altered that simply switching the audio track wouldn't cut it. Still, FUNi may see a market out there for fans wanting a stand-alone sub-only release.
Macross did indeed get a new dub from ADV (that's fucking spectacular). Mospeada and Southern Cross though are both sub-only. Sailor Moon's first two arcs were also sub-only on their uncut release. Then there's also Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors, which has duel sided DVDs that has the uncut sub on one side, and the edited dub on the other.

But yeah, sub-only releases of anime that were once heavily, heavily altered and treated poorly for years are indeed nothing new at all. I could easily see the Dragon Boxes as representing FUNi's version of the above mentioned situations, but for DBZ.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Again, all I did was just turn the saturation up and use a Gaussian blur.

Out of curiousity, why does everyone not like English BGM?

Because they don't like music created with a synthesizer.

Hey! Don't bring synthesizers into this. They are the essence cheesy retro movie soundtracks and I will not have you belittling them!

Well perfection is in the eye of the beholder, so with that said, I would like the English BGM included. However, as I am sure firearms were being loaded as I stated that...only if it didn't compromise on quality.

I never said I didn't like them. I do like them, when used correctly, e.g, Hans Zimmer, Harry Gregson Williams style soundtracks. Of course I love video game music, too. :)

Because it's badly-produced, and its tone and style isn't appropriate for the what the series should be.

It's also completely unnecessary. Practically EVERY other DBZ dub on the planet uses the original BGM. It was made for the series, so it should be used by default. Period.

A few of the themes are nice, but the arrangement in the episodes is horrid and never ending. But I find FUNi's VAs to be more offensive to the ear to be honest. They're the main reason why I don't watch the English dub.

I wish they had kept the Ocean group.

Pretty much. Most of the people who say that they hate it just say that they hate synth music. Either that, or it's cheaply produced. I don't see how that really affects the quality, though. Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) was one of the mostly cheaply produced albums ever, yet it's also considered one of the greatest albums of all time.

Here's the thing: When watching the Saban episodes, I didn't really notice the music all that much. Then, when watching the first three movies on TV (that had the Japanese music), I was suddenly in love with the music! After that, I was basically like, "Why can't the TV show have that awesome music?" After that, Season 3 came around and the music took a turn in a completely different direction. A direction that I wasn't a fan of for Dragonball Z.

Now, I don't hate synth music. I don't necessarily hate the US Broadcast BGM as music in general. I just don't like it when used for DBZ and I definitely hate the fact that the music I instantly fell in love with wasn't on the US Broadcast of the TV show.
