We're not really bitching. We're just bringing up one little thing that we'd like them to address. They addressed the same issue with the Season Sets (moving from 5 to 6 discs) so it really shouldn't seem like a big deal to go from 6 to 7.ultimateemail5000 wrote:You guys, if you all e-mail Funi and bitch about such a small thing, that will be the next gimmik to re-re-re-re-re-release the series AGAIN. Don't do it, I'm begging you, fixing widescreen though paid off, thanks guys.
I been a ghost on here for the past 5 or so days and from what I get that no matter what FUNi does they will never fill your guys needs, I myself am very happy that we even get the chance to own Dragon Box here in America so I'm not going to push it and make a deal out of nothing...I'm happy from what they're giving us. You guys really bring a new meaning to hardcore fans I will tell you that much LOL.

It's not that we'd all throw a shitfit and tear down FUNi HQ if it stayed as 6 discs. If you look at the emails we're sending, they're very polite and we're thanking them for bringing us the DBox. However, back in the day with the Season Sets there was the problem of having the episodes on 5 discs instead of 6. This was changed from 5 to 6 in order to preserve the highest quality possible. Now we're asking to go from 6 to 7 for the same reason.CrayZ wrote:I been a ghost on here for the past 5 or so days and from what I get that no matter what FUNi does they will never fill your guys needs, I myself am very happy that we even get the chance to own Dragon Box here in America so I'm not going to push it and make a deal out of nothing...I'm happy from what they're giving us. Okay I am completely geeking out for the Dragon Box release. And I guess that it would be better if they had 7 discs in this release, but quite frankly, I don't know if emailing them would change all that much. I have a weird feeling that they've already finished the first waves of them since they already have a mock setup or whatever it's called.
I'd like it if it had 7, so yeah, I will email them, but I always feel like big businesses don't really listen as well as they should. In any event, FUNimation pulled off probably the greatest move they could've for the series. I just feel bad that now I'll have 3 versions (4 if you count the early Ocean dubbed) of the series. Ohs well. At least I'll have it all, from the crappiest of the crap to the best of the best.

The point is even 166mm film still looks good in 1080p. Didn't everyone rave about how good Casablanca looked when it was released on BluRay?snaku wrote:I hope you realize that if Toei has Pony Canyon go back and remaster the original 16mm film negative again, but this time in 1080p, it would not look anywhere near as gorgeous as Sleeping Beauty. It was shot on large format 35mm negatives that were intended to be enlarged to 70mm prints.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
DB DBox color corrections & DBox color corrections.

If it doesn't change anything, how are you hurt by sending out the email? At least you gave it a shot, you know?TheGreatness25 wrote:Okay I am completely geeking out for the Dragon Box release. It's a mock-up of the packaging. I'm sure these things haven't been mass-produced, they're not just going to have that many DVD sets simply languishing in a warehouse for four months.I have a weird feeling that they've already finished the first waves of them since they already have a mock setup or whatever it's called.
Ha. I'm dumping my crap and upgrading. =)At least I'll have it all, from the crappiest of the crap to the best of the best.

That's an awful pessimistic attitude you got there. FUNimation is region-wide known for it's service for fans. If word gets to them and they have the time to process it, I think they'd be very understanding and compliant.ultimateemail5000 wrote:Some people are just never happy with anything.Kendamu wrote:It's not that we'd all throw a shitfit and tear down FUNi HQ if it stayed as 6 discs. Quit having such low standards. We're genuinley trying to make a great thing better here, now stop pissin' on our parade. Your posts don't seem to do much except make everybody here sound like spoilt brats, which certainly isn't the case.ultimateemail5000 wrote:Some people are just never happy with anything.Kendamu wrote:It's not that we'd all throw a shitfit and tear down FUNi HQ if it stayed as 6 discs. I'm going to be being realistic by saying that there's not a chance in hell that the FIRST DBox is going to have seven discs. Maybe the later ones, but not this one. Why? Because, at the conference, the thing looked pretty finalized. They are probably going to spend the rest of their time mass-producing and marketing them.
They definitely aren't going to say, "Oh shit, 14 people sent emails to us, time to do it all over again." I'm not trying to be harsh, just trying to be realistic.

We're actually really happy with this. We're just asking for a slight improvement while there's still time to make improvements. It's not too much to ask, really. If we don't express our interest in such things, we'd never get the products we want.ultimateemail5000 wrote:Some people are just never happy with anything.Kendamu wrote:It's not that we'd all throw a shitfit and tear down FUNi HQ if it stayed as 6 discs. We'd have never had the first three Ocean-dubbed DBZ movies uncut with English voices and Japanese BGM nor would we have had the Japanese version with subtitles on those same discs. We would never have had uncut English dub tapes. We would never have had the series in Japanese with subtitles. Parts of Europe would've never heard from the Ocean cast ever again (they came back from Season 4 onward overseas). We would've never seen an attempt at re-dubbing the first two seasons before moving onto the Bricks. We wouldn't have had the English voices with Japanese BGM on the Bricks. We would never have had 6 discs on the Bricks instead of 5. We also would've never gotten the Dragon Boxes or the first 13 episodes of Dragonball uncut.
It's because of fan feedback that things continue to get better over time. It's because of fan feedback that FUNi reps now have MySpace and Twitter for us to quickly get questions answered and responses to feedback. It's because of feedback that we might be having a FUNi rep answer questions about the Dragon Box on the DaizEX podcast! It's not just whining and bitching amongst ourselves. Sure, we do that here, but we also make sure that FUNimation, Viz, (formerly) Atari, Bandai, etc. know our concerns so that things we wanna see make it into the comics, DVDs, games, etc.
Because of fan feedback, FUNimation is working on getting more of the things fans ask for like "Plan to Eradicate the Saiyan," the 40th Anniversary Jump Special, and Dragonball Kai released in the US. While I can easily import Kai and while I've already imported the Special, it would be spectacular to have R1 releases of these things so I can watch them outside of my home on other peoples' players or throw on some subtitles when I have friends over who can't understand Japanese or if I'm just feeling lazy and don't feel like listening hard enough to understand most of what everyone's saying.
Yes, fans can be annoying and whiny and it's impossible to make all of us happy. However, if we just stayed quiet all we would have are crappy bootlegs, some hard-to-find fansubs, and the first couple seasons of the Ocean dub. Is that how you want things to be?
This is why we ask for things.

There's 4 months left until release, the one at the conference was a MOCK, it's not listed at any sites, and you're being pessimistic. These are good enough reasons for me to ask them to change something so simple.
