This is pretty dark for Dragon Ball....

Because of a certain someone who posted a certain something in a certain thread, I got thinking of a video I saw a while ago. I'm absolutely certain it's filler because I know Akira Toriyama wouldn't write something this dark.

Please excuse the name of the video and the fact that it's the Funimation dub....

Those of you who purchased the Dragon Ball Z Season Sets probably remember this, but I never remember watching this scene. I'm pretty sure it's a dream, or shall I say nightmare, Goku is having, but still, for Dragon Ball, it's pretty dark.

Thoughts?

I distinctly remember that, and that blank face Chichi gets when her neck gets snapped. Definitely one of the creepiest and most graphic (not gore-wise) scenes in Dragon Ball.

Goku doesn't know what the Cybernetic Humans look like, how could they be in his nightmare?

Yeah it is a nightmare, and filler. I'd have to watch the original version to try and see how I felt about it. I can't make it through that painfully bad clip of the dub.

It reminds me a lot of that nightmare or vision Son had in the Namek saga where he saw all of his friends dying at the hands of Freeza.

I'd say Chi getting her neck snapped is just about as bad as her getting eggafied and stomped, honestly. It's just the setting of it that makes it a little better.

But yeah, that's pretty sickening if you ask me.

I remember being shaken by that scene as well.

It's a nightmare Goku has when he's recovering from his heart disease. I don't remember exactly what episode it's in. It is pretty "dark", but that's the point. I think it was one of the better moments in the series but I wouldn't call it the "best DBZ scene ever."

Yeah I distinctly remember this episode, its one of many Goku nightmares in the series, which are almost always very dark.

Remember the two nightmares during the Freeza fight?

Ahh, found it in Japanese. It's on episode 139. The music makes it creepier. Another win for the Japanese version.

Here is the other nightmare you guys talked about that's in the Freeza Arc. I do remember seeing this. This one is much creepier. It's the dub again, because I couldn't find the Japanese version. It's episode 91.

He's psychic when it suits him. Even in filler I think that's a good enough explanation.
